Stop the insanity!!

Life certainly feels insane these days.  There are so many things on our plates right now, that it is hard to stay focussed on what come first....family.  We did manage to step off the treadmill of life a couple of times this weekend though in order to enjoy some family time.  Saturday we celebrated Schmoo's 7th birthday with 7 of her school friends with a trip to the pool.  After years of backyard garden parties, she was insistent on a pool party.  We all had a great time.  The girls are at a good age now for a pool party since most of them are really starting to swim.  Bean was right in there too, with his life jacket too, enjoying the octopus games and cruising around on the big mats.  After 1.5 hours in the pool, we headed upstairs for some pizza and cake before sending home 7 tired children and returning our own exhausted kids home.  It was a big day, as both kids had played soccer in the morning too under the close supervision of Coach Papa!

Sunday was Mother's Day and I was treated to lots of pampering.  I crashed on Saturday night and enjoyed almost 12 hours of sleep.  I must be exhausted!!  Papa spent lots of time in the kitchen, treating me to an eggs benedict breakfast before church and then a scrumptious pork tenderloin roast dinner after our family hike up Pulpit.  It was a much more successful trip this time.  No gushing head wounds and we saw lots of friends on the path on our way up and down!  I even got an afternoon nap when we returned home and Papa prepared dinner!  The kids treated me to lots of homemade crafts and plants from their schools.

This week holds lots of excitement.  The DuPonts hit the road today and are scheduled to arrive here tomorrow for their 10 day visit!  Both Schmoo and Bean are excited to see their cousins, especially after our visit in March.  Of course Thursday is the ultimate highlight of the week.  Schmoo has been counting down for weeks and is full of excitement each night when she goes to bed.  In true Mama fashion, she will be enjoying a birthday "week", with her school friends party last weekend, a family celebration on the 13th and a skipping friends pizza and movie party on Friday evening.  Luckily I've managed to convince her that toonies ($2) are a better gift than lots of unnecessary toys and such from her friends.  We spent an hour in the toy store on Sunday spending her birthday money from her friends and are scheduled for a return visit on Thursday after school to spend Nana's birthday money!

Our tenant responsibilities are hopefully starting to slow down.  After a long process, we have finally sorted out a tenant to move in on June 1st, so will be able to enjoy Uncle C's wedding with one less concern.  The cracked hot water tank at the other house has been replaced and cleaned up.  There's a few more things to be finished up, but they can wait until we're sure that the upstairs water issues have finally finished.  Talk about a big hit of responsibility all in one shot!!

After the birthday celebrations this week, we'll be on the countdown to Calgary with Uncle C and Auntie S's wedding just around the corner!!
