Ode to my sweetie

Once upon a time there was a girl who set off to travel the world.
Along the way she stumbled (or maybe it was he that stumbled) upon a boy, on an island made of sand.
Their love started on a night with clear skies, where they watched the moon rise up over the Pacific.
Their love started with excitement, a carefree life of travelling the world together, seeing the sights, caring only about their time together.

Then one day they moved across another ocean to start a new life in Canada.
The rollercoaster of real life met them at the airport's door, but the boy and girl were not to be discouraged.
They held hands even tighter and rode the ups and downs that life brought them.
They met with great sadness, disappointment and frustration but also tremendous hope, joy and love.

Along the way they built their family and they found a real home.
Their days are full of everyday ups and downs and the occasional big dip or rise.
At the end of every day though, there is still tremendous love.
It keeps them going.
It keeps them strong.

The story is still at the beginning.
There is hope for a long road together, full of more twists and turns.
The girl is thankful for the boy that she stumbled upon so many years ago.
She is thankful for the gifts he has given her - a safe home, two beautiful children, constant love.
She is thankful for his love, his strength, his patience.
She thinks about the day, 10 years ago, that she walked down the aisle and made a promise for forever.

Happy Anniversary, my love.
