Alas, my posts over the next two weeks (when I get a chance) will be photo-less. I am busy taking lots of pictures, but won't be able to load them up until we return home on the 21st. I'll have to entertain you with my words instead.
Our spring break holiday has begun. We had a successful trip from home, via Spokane to Salt Lake City on Saturday, where Auntie E was waiting to pick us up. We had an extra special treat at the Spokane airport, where we connected with my friend A and her friend N and their 4 kids (all Bean's age or younger). They were headed to California and our flights aligned perfectly for our kids to entertain each other at the airport for a couple of hours. It was fun for the moms and the kids! We arrived back in Logan at 10pm with two very tired children.
Sunday was a pretty low key day. Most of Logan is closed for the day so we spent most of the day at home. We did make it out for a walk to the local playground to get rid of some excited energy. All four kids were happy to see each other. R immediately fell in love with Schmoo and has spent most of his time following her around. The three older kids seem to be faring well, with their attention and affections with one another constantly changing. I headed out in the afternoon with Schmoo and Bean to allow for some quiet time for I and R and found Old Navy, open and waiting for me. We found a new bathing suit for Schmoo and a couple of new t-shirts for Bean before returning home. There were a couple of Uncle R sightings during the day as he moved back and forth between home and the university. We did enjoy a fresh spaghetti pasta supper all together before settling the children down for the night.
Today has been glorious. The sun was out and it was nice and mild. After an early start to the morning, we got the kids organized and headed out to the local zoo for the morning. Far from the excitement of the Calgary Zoo, this was a "by donation" zoo that houses mostly different types of birds. There was a couple of bobcats, an albino porcupine, some coyotes and a family of pet rocks though. The kids were happy to wander through the paths and we took time to feed the ducks. We also got to watch as the zookeepers caught and moved a black swan from one pond to another. All the kids were concerned and had lots of questions as they scooped it up in a net and then gave it some deworming medicine before carrying it off down the path. We finished our morning off with some playground time and then a trip to McDonalds.
The afternoon was spent watching Schmoo practice her skipping (she's on a daily practice schedule during Spring Break to get ready for provincials in April). Bean also hopped on I's two wheeler (with training wheels) and had no problem cruising around the driveway. We also went for a wander to the ice cream shop at the university for an ice cream before returning home for home made pizza dinner. The evening is quiet. All the kids, and Auntie E are fast asleep and Uncle R is back at school. We've got swimming plans for tomorrow and then it's back to Salt Lake City on Wednesday as we fly out early on Thursday morning for Mexico!
