Summer has begun! Schmoo finished school on Tuesday and Thursday we enjoyed an action packed Canada Day celebration. Schmoo's skipping club participated in the annual Canada Day festivities down at the park/beach, so we spent several hours in the morning and early afternoon skipping at their booth. Schmoo was busy skipping and convincing other kids to try skipping, while I was busy selling raffle tickets. The fundraising life is never quiet here! Bean managed to stay close to the skipping booth, spending most of his time sitting in his lawn chair, drinking orange pop! Papa made is down to the park for an hour or so, in time to take Bean for a cruise around the park and sit with us for a picnic lunch. We returned home for a self-imposed nap for the kids and I so that we were all fresh for the fireworks. Schmoo and I made it over to a friend's house for their annual Canada Day party, while Bean and Papa stayed home and took in the show from our back deck. Schmoo and I ended up down at the soccer fields where we snuggled up together on the grass, just us girls to watch the light show!
The past couple of days have been full of summer fun. Friday brought monsoon like rain in the morning, so our plans to visit the outdoor pool turned into a visit to the indoor pool. We enjoyed a lunch date at her friend J's house and then headed to the pool with J and her mom for the early afternoon. I got my own playdate in the evening - a girl's night at the movies to see the new Twilight: Eclipse movie!
Today was spent with our good friends. After Papa's soccer date with his friends in the morning for the Germany game, I took the kids out to our friends' C and K for the afternoon to hang out and help them watch the kids while they caught up on some work. They are headed to France next week for 6 weeks, so an extra pair of hands to take care of their little one E was welcomed with open arms. Then we all headed back into town to our other friends' new house for a housewarming, summer BBQ. They have a new house that is just across the street from the soccer fields, so we all headed down to the fields for a parents vs kids soccer game after dinner. Luckily the weather co-operated in that it atleast didn't rain. Here's hoping the sunshine and heat is just around the corner.
Tomorrow presents a bit of a treat - no plans! Who knows what we'll get up to.....I hope it at least includes a bit of a sleep-in!
