The pictures I wish I had taken over the past few days.

Bean doing double dutch skipping with another little kid at skipping camp on Friday.  I got the brainstorm after Schmoo finished camp on Tuesday that Bean should be able to join in too.  The big kids who ran the camp were more than happy to include him.  I came back 1/2 hour early to watch him and he was doing great.  When he couldn't do the single rope on his own, he got special attention from a senior skipper who skipped with him in front instead!

Me stood in my flip flops outside the bottle depot in 30C heat without a hat for 5 hours sorting cans and bottles for the skipping bottle drive.  I had arrived expecting to drive Schmoo and some other skippers around but got repositioned to sorting so was not dressed for success.  Halfway through the shift I put Schmoo's bright pink hat on to relieve my burning head.  That was one picture I was happy not to have.  The bottle drive was a success, raising close to $3,000 for the skippers headed to England for the World Championships later this month and Schmoo was ecstatic about spending 5 hours with the big kids!

Schmoo with a brand new gap in her teeth.  The latest front tooth has been hanging, literally by a thread for days now and I was finally able to pull it out.  The tooth fairy made it with her toonie, making for a happy Schmoo this morning.

Papa and his gang watching the World Cup final this afternoon.  I did get a partial picture when the kids and I were still around, but it didn't take much to realize that we were best to find an alternate activity for the duration of the game.  Our original plan to head to the beach was quickly changed to a trip to the next town for a McDonalds lunch and matinee viewing of Despicable Me.

We did get a few good pictures though over the past few days.  Schmoo finally got her birthday bike - a blue Raleigh from Wal-Mart.  Her first try on it was a bit wobbly, but hopefully after a few more tries she'll be cruising around with ease.  Bean was more than happy to move up to Schmoo's old bike with training wheels back on, leaving us behind on the bike path.

Airlie got to come to the park too on Friday for a big swim on a hot day.  I don't know who was happier - Airlie swimming to get the stick or Papa throwing the stick for her.

We spent some time in the backyard this weekend too.  Papa's plans for some back deck tent sleeping where twarted by children who couldn't listen, but we did enjoy some quiet time in the hammock!

Needless to say the weekend tuckered us all out.  Schmoo fell fast asleep tonight while watching World Cup highlights....when was the last time THAT happened?!!

The week ahead is busy.  Auntie E arrives with her kids tomorrow for another summer visit and then we'll be packing up and heading east on Friday for the kids' week in the bush with Grandma Lady.
