Based on the fact that I haven't posted anything for two weeks, you can probably tell that we're back in the swing of things. The last two weeks have been full of long days at school, afterschool activities (Schmoo is back at skipping), and meetings. I'm back to a 3 day a week work schedule and a full slate of volunteering at the school. I also received my very first textbook this week!
I was giddy with excitement when I returned from work on Monday to find a box sitting on our doorstep from Athabasca University. It's for an intermediate financial accounting course - exciting, I know. One step towards a pretty lofty goal of an accounting designation, but at this point that all I can do is one step at a time. It's an online course that I will complete over the next 6 months. Wish me luck!
Our weekends have been relatively leisurely. Saturday mornings are dedicated to soccer for the kids. Next week will be the last weekend for outdoor soccer and then Bean will move inside to play. Bean continues his scoring streak with 8 goals one week and 5 goals the next. It's pretty obvious that he's been practicing all summer long. He even got his picture in the local paper, showing him in action on the soccer field! Yesterday, Schmoo and I got together with 3 other girls from her class and their moms and went to see Sing-a-long Sound of Music at the local theatre. There were lots of people dressed up in costumes from the movie and Schmoo decided to wear her flower girl dress. Her friend R wore a fancy white dress too and they proudly strutted across the stage together when they were doing the costume parade. Their matching outfits won them the runner-up prize for kids' group!! It was a late night. We returned home to a quiet house at 11pm!!!
The weeks are going to start ramping up now. Papa and I will be starting indoor soccer ourselves in the next few weeks which will mean busy evenings during the week. The old red minivan will be on the road for the next two weekends. My friend D and I are making a trip to Calgary next weekend, without kids, with plans to hit IKEA and some other big city shops. The next weekend is Thanksgiving. Papa is headed west for a soccer tournament and I'll head north with the kids for some family time in Golden. It will be nice to hang out with Auntie E and her kids, together with Grandma Lady, Uncle C and Auntie S. Auntie E's recovery is coming along slowly but surely. She's in Golden now with Grandma Lady and her kids until October 19th when hopefully she'll get the all clear to head south to Utah.
