Family Time

I'm running a bit behind, but here's the pictures from our weekend down in the States at Silverwood Theme Park. We had a fabulous trip. It was so much fun to see the kids so excited about pretty much everything. The weather wasn't as great as last year, but at least it didn't rain. Saturday was cool and overcast, so we stuck to the amusement park side of things. The kids loved all the kiddie rides - mini ferris wheel, airplanes, helicopters. We all went on the log ride together and Schmoo fell in love with the water rafting ride. Bean wasn't keen, so Papa and I had to take turns going on it...each time getting absolutely soaked! Of course there was cotton candy consumed and the kids stayed up until 10pm! We got upgraded at our hotel, so we were able to settle our tired munchkins into bed in a separate bedroom and then had our own pizza and movie night!

Sunday was better weather, with the sun out, so we spent most of our time at the waterpark. Not without a couple of rides on the water raft again for Schmoo and the airplanes for Bean. We promised them one game each and Schmoo managed to pick the number for the biggest prize! They were both happy to come away with their own prize to take home. Papa and Schmoo had an absolute blast at the waterpark. They both raced up the stairs and down the slides together for ages. Bean was more focussed on getting a tube to float down the lazy river with his Mama. We finished up with a gigantic ice cream before loading into the car and heading home. Bean crashed out about half way home, woke up at the border for a banana and then slept the rest of the way. He was happy to be carried into his room and put to bed when we got home. I headed out to the valley to pick up Airlie and returned to a quiet house.

Monday was a work day and get ready for Team Indi day. I managed to finish a bit early so snuck in a lunch with my friend D before picking up Schmoo, doing the grocery shopping and then picking up Bean. Papa was busy cleaning up the outside of the house while I power cleaned the inside. He was smarting after having a run-in with a wasp's nest earlier in the afternoon which resulted in a couple of stings behind his ears. I headed down to the soccer fields for my first game of soccer in 6 weeks. It felt great to be back on the pitch and I was thankful that it was a low key, fun game with a small group.

Papa made a big find while tending to his garden. He lifted up an upside-down planter and found this gigantic slug and her freshly lain eggs. Suddenly his slow growing garden made sense. He took it around to the front yard to show the kids what happens to slugs when you put salt on them. Poor Bean.....he reacted by saying "Papa, but that's a living thing". Papa had to quickly react by sending Bean inside, telling him that he was just feeding the poor thing.

Team Indi arrived around 9:30pm with smiling faces. It was a beautiful evening, so we caught up with a beverage out on our back deck and actually watched all of our neighbours go to bed for once. Auntie V and I were the last to come inside after 11pm.....trying to be conscious of our noisy voices. We all headed to bed after midnight!
