What a great weekend. After a manic rush through month end on Friday evening, my friend D and I whisked ourselves south over the border to Spokane for two nights of childlessness. We had a great time, avoiding the 40C heat by spending most of the daytime inside at one of the three malls we visited. We also managed to see two, yes TWO movies while we were there. The Proposal with Sandra Bullock was our chick flick and Public Enemies was our gangster drama. We also managed to drink several mojitos....both from the bottle and freshly made at the local watering hole. We ate lots of junk food.....Taco Bell when we arrived at 11:30pm, Arbys for me during our marathon shop on Saturday, two servings of Ben and Jerry's ice cream over the two days and a sleeve of Pringles in our hotel room. We also went for a scrumptious dinner at Mizuna on Sunday night before we made our way home. We were on a delayed return to ensure that we had been gone for the full 48 hours in order to capitalize on the $400/person duty free limit. We made it with 45 minutes to spare!!
Papa and the kids had a great weekend back in town. They went to see Ice Age 3 in town on Friday night and then spent most of the day at the spray park on Saturday to cool off from the heat. Papa bought a new 2 man tent that he set up on our front deck. The three of them camped out on the deck on Saturday night, much to the kids' enjoyment.
Today was a holiday in Canada. Bean spent most of the afternoon at his friend S' house for his 4th birthday party and Schmoo and I had some girl time. We drove up the north shore for lunch at the ferry landing and then made a social visit to some other friends along the way before returning to pick up Bean. It was hot, hot, hot again today, so the rest of the afternoon was spent on the couch, under the fan watching a video.
It's back to business tomorrow. The kids are both at day camp and I have a limited work schedule so plan to get caught up on all the bits and pieces of life that I keep putting off to another day!
