It's my birthday!!! In my long standing tradition, I have been celebrating my birthday week. It was a bit slow to start, but two goals and a strong win on Monday night at soccer got things started nicely. Tuesday was the season premiere of Lost - so 3 hours of prime TV watching - and I wasn't disappointed. Wednesday was surprise night. Papa lined up seven of our closest friends to meet us for dinner and dessert in town. What a treat. Thursday was another TV night and Grey's Anatomy didn't disappoint.
So today was the big day. The day started with a big snuggle from my little girl and opening the birthday cards she had stored for me. I spent most of it in the car, driving to and from Spokane, but it was worth it. I drove down to pick up my friend Carolyn, who is on a month long holiday with her 14 year old niece Lara, all the way from Australia. It's been almost 10 years exactly since we last saw her, when she visited us in our little house in Marda Loop. The puppies had just been born, so she was happy to see Airlie still bouncing around when we arrived. It was a smooth drive there and back and we managed to have a nice leisurely lunch in Spokane as well. We returned home to two children eager to meet their new friends. They lavished our guests with lots of questions and attention.
Papa created a wonderful birthday dinner (of course) for us to enjoy after the kids were in bed and then we got to enjoy this.....
A Chocolate Hazelnut Ganache torte, courtesy of one of my friends from soccer....yum! Good thing I have some friends coming over tomorrow to help us eat some more.
So the rest of the weekend will be exciting with our friends in town. We have a road trip to the hot springs planned, a shopping walk in town and then a ski day planned on Sunday. So the birthday week will be complete!!
PS - thanks to Auntie V for the montage of photos, celebrating my birthday.....
