Fun Day

Today was Fun Day at Schmoo's school.  It's a day when the whole school walks up hill to a local park and they split into multi-age groups and do a bunch of fun races.  There's things like the egg carry, a three legged race, a wheelbarrel race....you get the idea.

Then they walk back to school for a hot dog lunch and play bingo in the gym all afternoon.  I missed it last year and so was excited about being able to go and help out this year.  My little helper came along too and we manned the water station together, pouring little dixie cups of water for kids as part of one of the challenges.

Schmoo had a great time.  The weather was perfect....not raining (like it has been all week) but not scorching hot.  It was so much fun to see her team do their cheer together which they've been practicing as a group.  Bean and I even headed back to the school at lunchtime and had a hot dog with the rest of the group.

Of course, it definitely helped to be out of the house this morning.  Papa was up, bright and early, to watch the opening ceremonies of the World Cup in South Africa.  The first game was going when I got up and got the kids ready to head to school and the second game was on when Bean and I returned after lunch.  Papa even had a few friends over to watch the second game, which will likely be the case over the next month.  Tomorrow it will be even more important to have a quiet house when England hits the pitch against America.  Luckily Schmoo and Bean are busy with their own soccer so we'll be out of the house pretty early.  Let's hope that England wins so we can return to a happy home in the afternoon.
