Easter chocolate, campfires and golf?!

Schmoo is definitely on the mend. Her spots have receded and yesterday with a full 24 hours of antibiotics under her belt, her energy had already returned. We still had a low key day yesterday. Papa headed out early, after watching his Saturday morning soccer, to go golfing with the boys. It sounds like they managed to miss the sporatic rain during the day and he returned in the middle of the rain storm, complete with thunder and lightening. As frequently happens, I had big plans for the day. I was going to head to the next town for a matinee showing of Monsters vs. Aliens with the kids. Unfortunately their foul moods and terrible listening changed our plans instead to an afternoon of quiet time. Bean ended up having a nice long nap, as did Mama on the couch. Schmoo entertained herself by doing pretty much every single puzzle in her room. All of our moods were better after a nap, so we headed into town for a visit to the toystore so that both kids could pick an Easter trip from Grandma Lady. We returned home with a pizza and smiling faces. Papa came home to help with bedtime and we each snuggled up on a couch to watch our own shows.

The kids were up early, excited about the Easter Bunny. His footprints were not to be found upstairs so they were easily diverted to some early morning TV before we began our Easter egg hunt. Bean finally found the beloved bunny on the stairs around 8:30am, so up I got to film them rushing around the house looking for eggs and treats. They were both happy with their haul of chocolate filled eggs, a Monsters vs. Aliens toy and some bubbles. We had some breakfast and then headed over the bridge to our friends C & S' house for our Easter brunch. What a great afternoon. We enjoyed waffles with whip cream, fruit salad and bacon (of course). The kids played great together all afternoon. C & I set up another Easter egg hunt in their mammoth backyard, which the kids loved. Schmoo was the big helper, escorting Bean and S around, helping them look for eggs. Even Airlie got a playdate with their dog, running around together with their tennis balls. The dads got a campfire going in the backyard and the kids took delight in watching their Christmas tree go up in sparks and flames. The dads enjoyed some "beer time" while the moms took the kids back inside and chatted by a much warmer and drier fire inside the house.

A surprise turn of events when the dads came inside and decided to turn the Masters golf tournament on the TV. Who would have EVER thought that I would spend any time, never mind the next 1.5 hours watching golf on TV. Maybe it was the pleasure of just sitting around in relative peace while our kids entertained each other or maybe it was the ongoing commentary that we all provided for the event, but it ended up being somewhat enjoyable. We finally bundled the kids into the car at 4:30pm and headed home. No big Easter dinner this year. Instead the kids got tortellini and Papa is making us a gourmet pasta for our dinner. We topped off our family day by watching the two home videos that span from Christmas to Easter that are ready to be sent across the Atlantic this week to Nana.

Tomorrow is another home day. No school for the kids and no work for Mama. I do, however, start my 4 week boot camp which entails a 5:30am start. Here's hoping the rain clouds have passed over and I get to spend an hour and a half in relatively dry conditions, sweating like a mad woman.
Happy Easter!!
