The air has felt unsettled here this week. I've been busy getting back into the swing of life after my fabulous trip to Sin City. I've hardly had a moment to think about the decadence of leisure I enjoyed last week. The week has been full of rushing around to swimming lesson for Schmoo and gymnastics for Bean. I've been out to the gym and even woke up at the crack of dawn (read: 5:30AM) to play soccer with some other women from my Monday night group. The getting up part was difficult, but I sure felt great afterwards as I returned home with a flush face to tackle my Thursday. Papa has had a frustrating week, wading through complaints and issues.
Schmoo has been generally upset. She is suddenly very conscious of her mother's absence over the last little while and doesn't want me away from her. Trips to school in the morning have had tears. Yesterday I got a call from the school saying she wasn't feeling well. And then another call 5 minutes later that she didn't feel "that sick" when faced with her Mama coming to pick her up. I opted for an earlier day, picking her up at 1pm (after I had finished my Easter shopping) and we went down to the hotel by the lake for some girl time - lunch for Mama and french fries for Schmoo. By the evening she had spiked a fever and it came as no surprise this morning that her body was once again covered with red blotches. They looked different this time, so I thought for sure it was something other than the scarletina she had 2 weeks ago. We headed up to the hospital for a doctor's visit as all the other offices are closed today for Good Friday. One look in her throat and he was convinced that the strep throat had reared its ugly head again. So today....a beautiful, sunny, warm spring day....was spent inside nursing a lethargic and generally miserable Schmoo. She (and Bean) took full advantage of their inside time, watching lots of TV. Bean did get outside in the yard with Papa a bit in the afternoon at least. He loves playing with the water table out there and using the spray bottle to water the flowers.
So our weekend plans have been dramatically adjusted. Our date night for tonight was cancelled. Papa still gets his "men's day out" tomorrow, because he deserves it, comprising of a full round of golf and the a pub night to watch the Flames game. I'm hoping that the antibiotics will have started to do their trick by Sunday when we're scheduled for an Easter brunch and egg hunt at our friends C & S' house. Luckily, I'm staying home on Monday as both kids don't have school, so hopefully Schmoo will be fully recovered.
Another busy week ahead, of course and the countdown is on for Nana's arrival on May 10th and Grandma Lady's visit sometime later this month!
