Friday's Festivities

Lots on the go today. Third day of boot camp this morning. I had a late night last night at my usual Thursday night God group, so was fast asleep at 5:20am when the alarm went off. I have to admit, it was hard to get out of bed this morning. The boot camp session was good though. Our leader had us lugging pails in the sand and running up and down the beach. Thank goodness it was a clear morning. The rain didn't come until later.

Bean and I had a quiet morning. We dropped Schmoo off at school and then came home for a couple of hours before we took Papa back into town to pick up his car from the garage and run some errands. We made a pit stop at the bakery for a slice of pizza and a cookie before we returned to Schmoo's school for the preschool session in the afternoon. They were running a program that helps parents understand what to do to get their preschooler ready for kindergarten. Bean got to paint and play with play-doh while I spoke to Schmoo's kindergarten teacher and another lady about reading. He was pretty pleased when he got to bring home a bag full of goodies too.

Schmoo spent the afternoon at her after school care. We rushed home and hopped straight into bed for a late afternoon nap. Both kids were exhausted after getting up at 5:45am this morning and they had the incentive of movie night to have a nice long snooze. The effects of boot camp were starting to set in for me too, so I welcomed a nice long afternoon siesta. Schmoo woke us up at 5pm and I headed up the hill to meet with a potential tenant who was passing through town on her way home from Vancouver. I was taken right back to a vision of myself two years ago. Poor lady had driven all day from Vancouver on her own with her two and four year old daughters. It made me a little bit thankful that I'm through that stage and onto new challenges.

I made it back in time to help get our bag organized for movie night. It was "Bolt" tonight and both kids were excited to go. It's such a great family outing. The school gym was packed with families and a couple of other friends that we invited decided to join us. Bean did his usual sit on his own for half the movie and then snuggled up with his Papa to watch the end. Schmoo found her best pal, K and they alternated between watching the movie and running around. So now we're home and tucked into bed. Did I mention that the hockey playoffs have started? Papa and his friend L kept the downstairs couch occupied last night for the Flames' first loss. They were a cute couple in their red t-shirts and matching sports curses. I'm not whether to hope the Flames do well so that Papa's mood is good, or hope for a speedy departure!

It's great that mark and his friends can tuck themselves away to watch the sport uninterrupted and without any effect on the rest of the gousehold. It means everyone is happy.
