Running club

Schmoo has joined the running club. It meets every Monday and Wednesday at lunch and the kids run around the block a few times....the Grade One's run twice, the older grades run more. Her Grade four buddies are in the club and Schmoo loves to run (or be chased). Today was their first inter-school "meet". The loaded up on the bus at the end of the school day and bussed across town to another school (which is actually housed in the local college) and had races. The races were based on grade and gender, so Schmoo ran with about 15 other Grade One girls. And she came 3rd!!! And she was the fastest girl in her grade from her school!! It was all very exciting! We hung around to watch a bunch of the other grades run and then headed down to the soccer fields for soccer practice. It didn't come as any surprise that about 1/2 hour into practice that her body said "enough" and she lay down on the field to watch the clouds with another little girl. Poor thing was exhausted. She actually commented yesterday that she almost fell asleep at her desk in the afternoon. The long days are catching up.

The rest of the week has been okay. My head and chest are full of cold, which makes for a miserable Mama. Monday night, Papa and I both had meetings so we had to juggle with the help of our teenage babysitter. Tuesday night was a quieter night. After a home day with Bean, cleaning up for Grandma Lady's arrival today, I snuck out after the kids' bedtime for a walk and visit with our neighbour behind us. It was great to get to know her a bit better.

Tomorrow will be a long day for everyone. Grandma Lady will get the house to herself as we all head off for a full day at school and work. Then it's semi-final soccer for Papa and the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy for Mama...and packing for the road trip to Vancouver on Friday!!
