In the wintertime, when the skies are blue and the sun shines, this is one of the most beautiful places to be. Especially up on the ski hill where the snow glistens in the sunlight, making it look like a kid took a shaker of sparkles and shook it out while they rode up the chair. But unfortunately, blue sky days are rare in the wintertime. Especially down in town, where the clouds sit low over the lake. The past couple of weeks have been particularly painful. It hasn't even been snowing, but raining, for what feels like FOREVER. So when the weather forecasted sunshine on Saturday, I knew that Schmoo and I had to make it up to the ski hill. And look at what we were rewarded with!
Apparently the rest of the town had the same idea as the parking lot was full by the the time we arrived at 9:30am. We managed to get one of the last spots in the main lot and hustled up to the lodge in time to get Schmoo signed up for a group lesson with two of her friends, Z and H. They had a great morning together. Schmoo even maneovered her first black diamond run....Concentrator Trees, which she took me through in the afternoon. I had a glorious morning on my own, waiting in the long line ups and soaking up the sunshine. We had a quick lunch and a couple of runs together before we headed back to town for a birthday party at the pool. Bean came along for a swim too, so both kids were wiped out for the babysitter that evening.
The clouds returned on Sunday and it has been raining off and on again today. I don't think there's another blue sky day in the forecast until next Sunday. Yuck.
