The Olympic Torch arrives

It's been another busy week here.  The usual rotation of activities, with an evening meeting for Mama on Wednesday night and a playdate for Schmoo on Thursday after school with one of her friends from skipping.  The weekend has been full as well.  No date nights for Mama and Papa, but lots of activity.

The sun found it's way back to town on the weekend, so I was sure to make the most of it and get up to the ski hill on Saturday.  We got a good start to our day and arrived at the hill, raring and ready to hit the slopes at 9:30am, only to discover that Schmoo had left her ski jacket at home!  So instead of a run together before she went to Adventure Club for the morning, we spent the next hour beg, borrowing and stealing from the various people we met so that we didn't have to drive back home to get her jacket.  Luckily it was a beautiful day and not too cold, so the extra fleece sweater and vest we borrowed, worked perfectly.  Instead of skiing separately in the morning, we spent the morning skiing together with another friend and his mom.

We also found C & H and their parents just in time for lunch.  Papa came up to the hill this week with Bean for a lunchtime visit.   They spent some time after lunch on the tobbogan hill while Schmoo and I returned to the slopes for some more skiing.  Our day ended a bit early after Schmoo did a face plant off a jump she didn't mean to take and the sun disappeared and it started to get cold.  All together though, another successful day of skiing!  I can't believe that we're already up to day number 6 on the slopes!!

We returned home for some down time and then after the kids' supper, bundled up and headed into town for the Olympic Torch festivities.  There had been activities in town all day, which culminated with the torch arriving at 7pm.  There was a huge stage show which included a performance by the Rhythm Ropers that we have been watching them practice over the past month or so.  We made it just in time to watch their performance and then wandered around to check out the other booths.  We also found Miga and Quatchi, two of the Olympic mascots, who were taking snuggles from the kids!  The energy levels didn't last long, after a busy day for everyone, so we got our glimpse of the torch's arrival and then headed home for bedtime.  Both kids were excited to see the torch and the mascots too!

Today was a different kind of busy.  I got a bee in my bonnet this morning and hunkered down for a full house clean up.  It took most of the morning, but felt great to get it done.  Schmoo had a birthday party in the afternoon, which included skating at the local rec centre.  Bean went to the children's party being put on by the church at Schmoo's school, so everyone was entertained.  After dropping off Bean, I headed down to the rink to do some skating laps with Schmoo, which was nice.  We all returned home to the smells of roast beef and yorkshire puddings, a la Papa!  How lucky we are!!  The kids were quick to sleep tonight, big surprise!!

Another busy week ahead.  Month end looms at the end of the week and of course it's time to start getting ready for my friend C's visit from Australia the following week....and somebody's birthday!!!
