Double Grandmas

As a kid, you've gotta love it when both of your Grandmas come to visit at the same time. There is always someone around for an impromptu game of Guess Who. Someone's always available to watch you skip like a crazy person on the back deck or read you a story. A trip to the park, where requests for fun things like being pushed endlessly on the swing, a ride on the tram or something sweet are met with the answer "yes" to every question. There's one grandma to ride the tram with one person, while the other grandma stays at the park with the other. You get to have a popsicle AND and ice cream. Who knows what else happens when your mother is at work and the grandmas are in charge. You also become very well dressed when both grandmas bring you lots of new clothes!

We've just finished up a great double grandma visit. It's a pretty rare occasion and the kids lapped it up. I was thankful for the extra help to quietly sneak off for my own treat on Sunday morning - a speedy hike up Pulpit Rock (I'm down to 24 minutes up now) - before getting myself organized and off to work for month end.

Month end also meant I didn't have to work yesterday. After a beautiful start with boot camp in the sunshine on Monday morning, our morning routine felt leisurely when I didn't have to rush off to work. Nana and I dropped the kids off at school and then met up with Grandma Lady and Sam for a nice long visit at the local coffee shop. It truly is the hub of our little town. I also managed to see one of my God group members who I needed to track as well as corner our new tenant regarding his plans for rent. I also caught my two friends meeting for coffee without me. Lucky for them there was a missed call on my cell phone....they had tried to find me for coffee too. I had lots of time to visit and get most of my extra errands done before picking up the kids. Everyone had quiet time in the afternoon, except the kids who just took turns asking whether they could come out of their rooms every 10 minutes. They had a full viewing audience for their swim lessons and despite a mini meltdown by Bean at suppertime, transitioned relatively well to bed. I headed out in time for my Monday night soccer, which was a blast. We had enough people to play a full field, 11 a side game. I ran like a crazy woman and today my legs are not happy. But it felt great.

The highlight of today was going hat shopping after school. Bean went on strike from wearing his sun hat, insisting on needing a new hat like his friend S. So off we went to buy him a new hat...his very first cap. He wore for the rest of the day. What a cutie!
