Mama's Day Off

At long last, a whole day to myself. And of course I did what anyone would expect me to do....I napped! Schmoo was up early this morning and crawled into bed with me and fell back asleep. We both woke up with her 7:15am alarm clock and she shuffled out of my room to watch Clifford. Bean was up shortly after her. I'm wondering how long his extended mornings will last. We got organized and I dropped the kids off at daycare before picking up my friend D on the corner of Safeway to go to the gym. I was amazed at how weak I felt in class today. We did a ton of strength work, especially on our upper body and I could hardly make it through. Needless to say I'm aching now. I headed home and promptly motivated myself to get outside to do the yard. I'm quite proud of myself of mowing both the front and back yards. The dandelion fields are now flattened. I even spent some time twisting out the dandelion plants, but gave up after about 30. I was even a good neighbour and mowed down the side of our house right up to our neighbour's house.

The rest of the afternoon was quiet. I made sure the laundry kept moving and then after lunch I crawled into bed. Of course Airlie managed to drive me crazy with her pacing as the wind was up today. It hasn't rained yet, but has been cloudy and windy so I'm sure it will rain tonight. I was up in time to pick up some movies for the weekend, the sushi for the kids and then head off to the daycare. They were both happy to see me and as soon as we hit the car they both melted down into whiny messes. Auntie E arrived at the house shortly after we did with Baby R for a sleepover. The kids had their sushi, watched Babar and then I tucked them in separately. Schmoo could hardly make it through her story. Bean was a bit more restless, but has finally settled. Auntie E and I are going to watch a movie tonight....girl's night!

And for tonight's installment of our Alaskan holiday.....pictures of our ship! It was absolutely huge and I can't tell you how many times I walked from one end of the ship to the other (from the buffet to our stateroom). Most of the restaurants were at the back of the ship and of course, we were at the front. The kids club was right at the front of the boat on the 7th floor (not so great for the morning with choppy seas). There was a casino (which paled in comparison after our trip to Vegas last fall), a two floor theatre which featured various styles of entertainment (including three nights of cabaret shows which made me pine for a different life as a cabaret dancer), about 1,900 guests and 1,000 staff. Our room was large enough for two queen size beds (one that was the couch). The TV selection wasn't the greatest though - the only kids channel was the Cartoon Network that plays nothing suitable for preschoolers otherthan a 1/2 hour of Tom and Jerry every day and the movie station played most of the kids movies in the middle of the night. The food was great and we learned too late about the restaurant that served breakfast each morning, so suffered through the buffet and finding somewhere to sit until the second last day.
