Thursday, Friday.....

Last night was a late one, hence the lack of post. Auntie E and Uncle R arrived with Baby R at one minute before 8pm in time for the three hour "Lost" season finale. We sat on the couch while Baby R cooed at Auntie E and got a fit of the giggles. We ate lots of junk food and waited for Papa to return from his first tennis game of the season. It was a fun evening.

The rest of the day was pretty busy. I took the kids into town for my last Thursday mother's group. They break for the summer. We were having a baby shower for a couple of the moms that had just had and are expecting new babies. The kids had fun making bean shakers. C & H came over after the group for lunch so that D could go and get her haircut. The kids played well together and we were outside in the backyard playing when D got back. I managed to get rid of all of the chocolate cupcakes that I had made on the weekend between the mother's group and the lunch date. I had had a real craving for chocolate cake (I'm obviously in withdrawl from the cruise) and had made up a whole batch of 20 cupcakes. Poor Auntie E was disappointed when she arrived last night and they were all gone.

The rest of the afternoon was quiet. The kids had quiet time, including a nap for Bean. I went into Schmoo's room early and we had a nice story and snuggle on her bed. I'm suddenly overwhelmed by the thought of her starting kindergarden in the fall. I really want to make an effort to have some good moments of one-on-one time with her this summer. I headed out to the gym for the 5pm class that had been cancelled so I had a run and ride on the bike instead. When I returned home, Papa and Bean were in the front yard planting tomato plants in the deck containters. Bean loves being outside with us. He had helped me pick dandelions in the grass earlier in the day. Schmoo was happier inside, watching shows, of course.

Today was an excellent Friday. I dropped the kids off at daycare and carried on to the gym. I wasn't very motivated today, but ended up having a great workout. So much that my muscles were aching. Home for a quick shower and catch up with Grandma Lady on the phone before going back into town to drop off my mountain bike to be tuned up. The poor thing has sat dormant in our shed since we arrived here. I'm ready to get it out again and hopefully start riding down at the Park with Schmoo. I met D for lunch on a rooftop patio and then she gave me a glorious 1.5 hour massage.

I ran into Papa at the recycling station on his way to take Airlie to the vet. Poor thing has an awful case of the runs that she just can't get rid of, so we decided it was time to take her to the vet. $175 later she returned with fancy food and antibiotics to take. Let's hope they work! I did some more errands around town and then picked up the very, very, very tired and cranky children from daycare. We returned home for sushi and Babar and a well needed bath. The rest of bedtime was a struggle. They play so hard at daycare that as soon as they see me at the end of the day they just crash. They're tucked in bed now, hopefully for a good night's sleep. The sun is glorious still this evening. A good opportunity for dinner on the front deck. We've rented the movie The Savages for later on.
