Yesterday was a beautiful day and a busy one. We took Nana into town with us when we went to the Mother's Group at the church and left her to wander through town until lunch time. The Mother's group was fun - we had a mini auction with the group where we all brought items from home and auctioned off. Auntie E came along with her two kids and managed to make $50! Afterwards we wandered down the hill to the bakery to meet Nana for lunch. It was a bit hectic with the four kids, plus C & H were there with their mom for lunch too. But everyone had something to eat and Nana got the kids a cookie for their walk back up the hill to the car.
Cousin I came over for a nap without any success. The days of her napping at our house are over, I think as she managed to climb out of the playpen completely unassisted. At one point I could hear clinking from downstairs and found her squatting down organizing Grandma Lady's fine china in the kitchen of the suite. She came upstairs and played with Schmoo and Bean who both came out of their quiet time around the same time.
After she left we spent some time enjoying the sunshine in the back yard. The kids ran around with their stuffies playing hide and seek and then tried to pile into the hammock. When Schmoo tipped Bean out, in her attempt to help them out, I knew time in the hammock was finished. Her mood started to meltdown from there. Our neighbour M came over with his Mom to ask her to ride bikes together, so that distracted her for a while, but she came home in a foul mood and when her lack of listening escalated into the removal of Babar watching privileges she broke down completely and we had to move quickly into bedtime. Poor thing was just exhausted.
After getting her settled, I went into town to get some groceries while Papa put Bean to bed. I got distracted at the Mark's Work Wearhouse Ladies Night sale and returned an hour later with the remaining ingredients for supper. Papa whipped up the pasta dish and I snuggled onto the couch for my Thursday night shows while Papa and Nana had supper together. They both headed off to bed before me.
Today was a busy day with preparations for Sunday's birthday party! I dropped the kids off at daycare and they didn't even say good-bye. I guess they like it there. I headed to the gym for my killer workout and then ran some errands before heading home to pick up Nana for lunch. We went to the local pub for lunch and had a giggle over the fact that we were the only women, otherthan the waitresses. We spent the next couple of hours out in the sunshine shopping for birthday gifts and birthday party supplies. We came away with everything I had on my list and managed to pick up the kids early from daycare. Picking them up 1/2 hour early seemed to bring them home in a better mood. Something for me to keep in mind for the future. They were having a great time out in the sandbox when I got there. Schmoo was the water keeper, turning on the water tap for the kids to fill up their buckets.
We came home for dinner and found Auntie E, Uncle R and baby R on the doorstep. Their jeep had broken down so they were making their way to our house to call Grandpa W in the valley to come and get them. The kids had dinner and enjoyed their chocolate egg from Nana for dessert. We managed to watch Babar tonight, so bathtime was more enjoyable. I kept busy in the kitchen preparing appetizers and brownies for a potluck party I'm going to tonight. With the kids tucked into bed, I'm headed out for the evening while Papa makes halibut for dinner for Nana.
