Bad Day, by Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Have had a headache all day, despite taking lots of pain medication. I think I'm just tired and ready for Papa to be home. Tried to think of fun things to do with the kids, but their opportunities for good behaviour failed and so the fun things didn't happen. We went to church in the morning and DIDN'T go for a muffin afterwards. We came home and I made lunch for them to eat in the backyard, but Bean's fear of bees and wasps drove him inside. At least he had a nap this afternoon.
Things were looking up when my friend D called and invited us over for dinner. I told Schmoo that if she had a sleep that there would be a surprise for dinner. She managed to stay quiet in her room for a bit longer, but of course Bean woke up so there was no opportunity for me to try and sleep my headache away. I was all set to head out to D's house, when I discovered the icing on today's cake....Airlie had left her mark, yet again on the carpet. I was so angry I could feel my blood boil. After some harsh words and a banishment to the garage for the dog while I sorted out the mess, I cleaned things up and headed out. The dinner party was a good break. We had a nice dinner, telling stories about our cruise ship adventure and then C took all four kids down the block for 45 minutes to play while D and I had a chance to catch up. The Coke slurpee seemed to help my headache too.
Home for a pretty smooth bedtime and after some final cleaning touches, I settled in on the couch to watch "Love in the Time of Cholera". I recently read the book so was eager to see the movie. I think I should stick to watching movies first and reading the book afterwards, as I often find the movie versions boring because I know what's coming next. Whereas if you see the movie first, the book always has so much more in it. I did talk to Papa who arrived safely in Cowtown and was hanging out with Team Indi. It will be great to see him tomorrow morning!
