Slowly, slowly, slowly passes Saturday

Today feels like it's gone on forever. Schmoo was up early, likely because she was in bed early last night. She rummaged around until her beep and then went out to watch TV. Bean got up with her and was fine until he needed his bum changed. That little boy's bum will be the end of me at the moment. Auntie E and Baby R were up around the same time. We had a leisurely start to the morning and then made a mad dash at 10am to go up to the local Waldorf school for their spring fair. I had never been up there before so it was interesting to see. I commented to Auntie E that it was like seeing a whole group of people that I've never encountered in town before. The Waldorf philosophy is a strange one. Mostly focussed on nature and teaching to a different curriculum than standard schools. We made paper flowers and flower crowns for our heads. Schmoo was interested in helping Auntie E make her flower crown, but not
interested in wearing it.
Both kids were of course interested in the snack. We paid for homemade cookies and strawberry shortcake. After the snack, Auntie E headed out with a restless baby R and we stayed for part of the puppet play. Both kids got restless so we headed out, just in time for me to drop Schmoo off her her playdate with Z. Bean and I came home for a leisurely lunch and then some quiet time. It was good timing for me to get Schmoo's last remaining blanket into the wash for a good cleaning. Bean rummaged around in his room, but didn't sleep. Schmoo came home around 3pm and they both got up. The rest of the afternoon has dragged. When they don't sleep or have proper quiet time, they are both miserable in the late afternoon. We worked on one of Schmoo's craft boxes from her birthday party. The kids finally found a rhythm with each other and ran around playing pirates, among other things.
Nana called after supper. Still wide awake in the middle of the night, adjusting to her time change from England. Both kids had a chat with her. I thought it would be fun to capture what they looked like as they spoke to her. I have a quiet evening ahead. I've prepared my dinner for the oven once the kids are in bed. Not sure if I'll watch taped TV or a movie tonight. I'm keen for Papa to return home. He'll be in the air once we get up in the morning for his long trip home.
The Alaska pictures have finally been collated and distributed by email. If you haven't got your copy, let me know and I'll send along the link!
