A BIG sleep makes for a much happier Mama

And that's what happened last night. I was EXHAUSTED. I can't describe it any better than that. I had a long, tiring day at work. My attempts to be pro-active in solving a problem together with a colleague made a bigger mess that we spent most of the afternoon trying to resolve. My eyes were tired and my brain was on autopilot. So when I lay down with Bean for our 5 minute snuggle at bedtime, I fell fast asleep. Papa put Schmoo to bed and at 7:30pm when I awoke from my initial slumber, the house was silent. Kids asleep, Papa at soccer. I was cold, so I went and climbed into my own bed to warm up and fell asleep again until 9:30pm when I became aware of the fact that the lunches weren't made. So I dragged my sleepy butt out of bed, made the lunches and promptly crawled back into bed. Thankfully, Bean is like a little alarm clock, up at 6am, otherwise we would have been running late because I failed to set the morning alarm.

I must say I feel so much better today. I had a much more productive day at work. I managed to actually take a lunch break - probably part of my problem yesterday. I had supper already organized for when we got home (sushi) so I didn't have to fuss around in the kitchen. AND I got to go to the gym tonight, so I've had a burst of sweat energy. I've still got a few things I need to do tonight for work, but I feel up for the task tonight.

The kids have had two long days at school. Schmoo was definitely tired. She was melting down as I walked out the door tonight to go to the gym. Bean was in better spirits, but I expect with another long day ahead tomorrow that he'll be pretty cranky tomorrow night. Schmoo was pretty cute today, getting ready for school. Wednesdays is big buddy day, her favorite part of school. This is when their Grade 3 big buddies come to the classroom and help them with a task - reading, a craft, etc. She was all excited to wear ponytails today for the big buddies! So of course I had to take her picture. Not to be left out, Bean wanted his picture taken too...with brown seal, of course. I have to admit I was pretty surprised to find the ponytails still in place when I picked her up at 3pm. They continue to enjoy playing games in the mornings and when they get home in the afternoons. Last night it was Go Fish.....until Bean didn't get the card match he wanted and the game melted down. Oh well, he's just learning, or so I keep telling Schmoo.

A special note out to Nana tomorrow that we'll be thinking about her and Grandad as it's Grandad's birthday! We love you!!
