The winds of soccer appear to be changing

We asked the kids tonight at dinner what activity they want to do after Christmas. Schmoo wants to go back to soccer and Bean doesn't. He wants to do gymnastics. He seemed into it for most of today's soccer class, but during the game he lost his spirit. Maybe because I was on the field trying to encourage him and help give him direction. Maybe because he was tired. It's so hard to know how much to help and how much to step back. He sure does look cute though in his big soccer t-shirt, shin pads and cleats.

Schmoo had a great dance class. You can see her starting to make a bit of a break from her friend Z, who she knows from outside of school and being drawn more to another little girl, E who is in her kindergarten class and who also goes to before and after school care with Schmoo. They didn't want to part ways today after class.

It was a rough night's sleep last night. Bean was up crying at midnight, probably overtired from the evening's activities. I ended up spending the night in his bed, having been woken from the deepest sleep and wanting to just close my eyes and go back to bed. Probably a good thing to be on the far side of the house as our neighbour raged through the night with his friends. I feel myself getting to a breaking point with his loud nights and spent a big part of today talking myself through how I would approach another night of partying tonight. Luckily, the house looks silent. So they've either gone into town or are taking it easy after a busy and late night last night.

Papa and I decided to divide and conquer this morning. After a good workout yesterday, I chose not to head to the gym this morning. Trying to ease my body back in gently and not overdo things. We got to meet our other neighbour's second puppy, Ghost today. Papa and Schmoo were out front getting her car seat organized when the neighbour came by with his two puppies. I took Bean out to see them too and we even did a proper introduction with Airlie. Schmoo LOVED the puppies and they loved her too. Bean wasn't quite as keen. Mostly because Indi kept jumping up and giving him kisses.

I took Schmoo to dance class and then we spent some time together in town. We went to Wal-Mart and picked out new winter boots and then had a sandwich lunch together before heading back to meet the boys at soccer. She loved going for a ride in Papa's car! I said good-bye to them all after soccer and headed off to work for a few hours. I'm desperate to get caught up so I can get some bigger projects off my plate. It sounds like Papa took the kids and Airlie to a nearby park to run Airlie around. All the fresh air and dancing must have tired Schmoo out as she ended up having a sleep in the afternoon.

I returned from work to a tidy and calm house. The kids had supper and a bath and then started getting ramped up for the babysitter. It's nice that they are so keen on her coming to take care of them. Obviously a good sign that she plays with them! Papa and I got all dressed up and went out for dinner at Auntie E and Uncle R's favourite special occasion restaurant. A first for us! We went with our friends U and L and then went to the theatre for a live comedy show. My cheeks are aching from laughing. A great feeling! We came home to a sleepy babysitter and quiet neighbours. I guess we'd better get to bed now in case we get woken up again in the night.
