All spruced up for the holidays

We were inspired this afternoon to get out and finally get some haircuts. Cousin I was already scheduled to get hers done. Schmoo complained on the way home from school that her bangs were touching her nose and Bean's little mop was looking pretty shaggy. It's one of the things that just keeps getting put off. So today I decided to see if I could get better results at the salon with Bean's hair than the barber. The barber does a great job, but he insists on cutting it way too short. Today's end result was much better. It's still pretty short, but at least he doesn't look like he's just enlisted for the military. Both kids were happy to sit and get their hair done with hopes of a lollipop at the end. Bean was a bit wiggly and distracted, but we managed to get through it.

After the haircut we went for a wander through Wal-Mart to pick up a few more Christmas decorations - some more indoor lights and some window stickers for the kids to put up in their room. Quiet time was a bit of a struggle today, especially because it was later than usual and I was trying to help Papa with some stuff on the computer. Papa went out after quiet time and the kids were excited about having french toast for dinner. Thank goodness for serving breakfast at dinner time. We had a quick hello with Grandma Lady on Skype and after a quick bath, I tucked both kids into bed. Papa is finally heading home after a long day!

Auntie E managed to get herself packed up today to head up the valley to stay with Grandpa W. Both of my kids were sad to hear that Cousin I and Baby R wouldn't be around until Friday. This way it will be like a brand new series of playdates all over again when they come back on the weekend! I am feeling pretty tired tonight, so have opted to forego soccer. I think it's time for me to listen to my body and give it a break from the break neck pace it's been pushing through this last little while. So instead I'll get takeout pizza with Papa and FINALLY catch up on last week's Grey's Anatomy episode.
