We're doing Christmas a bit backwards this year. With Uncle C and S here, we decided to have our big Christmas dinner tonight since they have to leave before dinnertime tomorrow. So today was all about cooking and preparing for Christmas. Bean was up extra early, harassing us to "wake up". We did eventually get moving, but not before a lot of frustrated requests on our part for him to go back to his room. Auntie E and I got to sneak out in the morning to pick up the last few groceries to get us through and take a break from the kids. S was great - she bundled up all three big kids and took them out for a walk. The rest of the afternoon was about juggling kids, cooking and quiet time. We all sat down at 5:30pm for a wonderful Christmas dinner, made by many hands! Grandpa W joined us too. The end of the kids' evening was getting their Christmas Eve pyjamas and putting out the stockings. Schmoo is sleeping in our room tonight so that Uncle C and S can sleep in her bed. Poor thing is so excited about Christmas that she couldn't get to sleep.
The rest of the evening has been spent playing Cranium - the girls prevail again, drinking beer and wine and nibbling on sweets. All the presents are wrapped up now and S and I are going to wander out in the snow to midnight mass. I'm sure everyone will be tucked in bed when we get back! It was nice to speak to both Nana and Grandma Lady today. Hopefully we'll get another Christmas day chat again tomorrow!
