Tis the Season....

For cold, cold weather....it's been below -10C here this weekend. I know, I know, nothing compared to what Calgary is getting, but cold for us. We had an incredible wind blow through here over the last couple of days. On Friday night, poor Papa had to sleep on the couch to keep Airlie's pacing at bay. Last night we tried a new tactic. We put her blanket beside his side of the bed. She lay there all night! Could it be that we've at last found a way to save ourselves from windy night pacing?!!

For feeling under the weather. Poor Schmoo has struggled this weekend with a scratchy throat and cough. All day Saturday she just kept saying, I don't feel so good. I did manage to get her to have a big sleep in the afternoon and we gargled some salt water together in the evening before she went to bed. She seemed better today (Sunday), but used her feeling under the weather excuse to get out of church. Amazing how much better she felt when she went into town with her Papa for groceries later and got hot cocoa and a new book!

For stir crazy children. Bean has been a right nuisance this weekend. He's been pushing buttons with everyone - Mama, Papa, Schmoo, Cousin I. He's refused to nap. He's been doing terrible listening. He's been whiny. He pretty much refused to play soccer on Saturday when I dropped him and Papa off for his class.

For holiday parties. Last night was my work Christmas party. Auntie E was on babysitting duty so Papa and I could go out in the deep freeze to my party. It was a low key, informal affair. I've never had fish and chips at a Christmas party before, have you?! My co-workers were in fine form, enjoying the holidays spirits and some good laughs. It was great to see a lighter side of the people I see most days in the week.

For good deeds. I spent the evening tonight at a friend's house organizing a giving tree poster board for our preschool. Luckily most of our "fundraising" committee are friends already, so it gave us a chance to sit and chat. We did have one man on the committee, who we all met for the first time. I'm sure he had some interesting things to ponder and talk to his wife about when he went home!

On a side note....Schmoo and Bean had fun tonight playing "Baby" with Baby R's high chair. They took turns being the baby and throwing pretend food on the floor for the Mama to pick up!

Now if only we could find our TV remote, which has mysteriously disappeared!
