Movie Night

I wasn't quite sure we were going to make it to movie night tonight. We have been talking about it all week, about the prerequisite that both children needed to nap in order to get a "fun pass" to go to movie night. Bean missed out last time, when he refused to sleep, so I hope they realized I meant business. But when it came time to nap time this afternoon, they both put up a big fight. Bean rummaged in his room and when I checked on him he started to get upset. Schmoo kept coming out of her room, professing how hard she was trying to go to sleep with no success. After 1.5 hours and me laying down with each of them, they both FINALLY fell asleep. Thank goodness. I really wanted them to go to movie night. I wanted us all to go to movie night as a family. And so when they woke up a bit groggy and grumpy, it was okay. After a few rounds of cards on the couch, they perked up and we made a trip to Panago for a pepperoni pizza.

Papa was out in town and met us up at the school in time for the 7pm start. Like previous movie night experiences, both kids were restless. Papa lay down on the blankets on the floor with Bean, but that didn't stop him from getting up and coming to sit with me on the chairs about a dozen times. Neither one tolerated the 3-D glasses for very long. I tried them too and even I couldn't be bothered. Schmoo sat with her buddy K tonight. Her usual gaggle of girls wasn't there, but I think K was her friend of choice regardless. She managed to share her little packet of mini eggs and popcorn with a couple of the boys from her kindergarten class. And she had a great time racing around the school gym after the lights came back up and the parents started cleaning up.

So we're home late. The kids have fallen to sleep quickly. Let's just hope that a late night means a later start in the morning, because 5:15am this morning felt almost cruel.

The 3D glasses are very flashy and at least Fraser was wearing glasses the same as Papa.
