That's right, I'm sick. Miserable and sick. In fact, today I hustled through my "must finish" list at work and came home to sleep for three hours while the kids were at school until 3pm. My sinuses are full, my eyes are sticky and sore, my body aches (but I think that's from soccer) and I'm wearing two sweaters because I've got the chills. I'm really hoping that the eye drops kick in today and after a good night's sleep I feel better.
Tomorrow is an important day though. It's Ash Wednesday - the first day of Lent. The 40 some day countdown til Easter. As a Catholic, we are supposed to give something up for Lent and this was the hot topic of conversation at our God group last Thursday. I've been thinking long and hard about this one. In the last couple of years I haven't participated in the Lenten sacrifice. But this year I thought I should really give it a go. Unfortuantely there are a lot of special events that fall over the next forty days - a trip to Mexico, a girls' trip to Vegas. So I've been torn between what to "give up".
Last week I actually started my Coca-Cola purge. I'm 8 days in now without any Coke products and doing fine. We'll see how long it lasts. I anticipate some strong temptation in Mexico where the beverage options will be limited and I won't be able to just drink tap water like I do at home. Chocolate and sweets is always an option, but the trip to Vegas threw that one out of the window. One of my main goals on that trip is to eat well and dessert is not to be compromised. So what else could I give up that would be difficult???? Facebook it is. I admit it, I'm addicted. I log in several times a day to see what my "friends" are doing around the globe. I like being connected, knowing what people are doing. But I also recognize the time is it using. So I'm giving up Facebook. Starting tomorrow I will not log in to Facebook until Easter Sunday. Plus I'm going to stick to my no computer time while the kids are awake rule. Wish me luck.
A couple of side notes - Schmoo got her hair cut yesterday. Not much of a change, but now she can see through her bangs. Plus today a jiffy bag arrived from England, complete with new Paddington Bear sweaters made by Nana. Schmoo was an eager model! Thanks Nana.

Good luck schwes, we'll miss you in the cyberworld.
As your little sis said Good luck on your lenten choice . I Think you chose well and knowing you , you will do it.
There is plenty of bottled water here in Mazatlan and limes are dirt cheap so you can survive here in Mexico without your coke even though it is the beverage of choice second to cervesa!
See you soon and get that sinus thing under control. Personally I believe it is allergy related!
What do you think she's allergic to? The cold! Cus I sure am.....I must get out of this arctic tundra soon. I'm impressed with your lenten choice and will follow suit....wonder how much more I'll get done in a day as a result!
