All done daycare...almost

Friday is actually the kids' last day, but today was the summer BBQ and farewell for the kids moving up to kindergarten. We had a mellow day in the morning, hanging out at home, not rushing off to the gym. The kids were more than happy to just watch some extended shows and play in the house. It was rainy and miserable, so I was in no hurry to go anywhere. Schmoo got a new Chickadee magazine so was happy with that. Bean helped me use up the brown bananas and make some muffins, which they both ate up happily for a snack.
We headed out just before lunch to do some necessary shopping. A trip to Wal-Mart, a stop at the bookstore for a peruse, a big grocery shop which I've been trying to do for two days now and then lunch at Quiznos. We ran into Schmoo's friend N, who will be in her kindergarten class and confirmed that he is starting on the same days as her next week. Hooray. Home for some quiet time. Bean actually slept today. A long overdue afternoon nap. Schmoo was settled in her room for her quiet time and I got some computer stuff done. Bean got up in time for us to head out to the party at the daycare. We crossed paths with Papa who was returning from his day out of town and his trip up the valley to pick up Emma the dog. We've brought her in a couple days early of Grandma Lady's arrival so we can snuggle her and pamper her a bit before Friday. It's hard to not be too sad about it all really. She's slowed down in the last few weeks and has started to nurse her foot again.

The party was lots of fun. The kids are old enough now that I can just let them run free in the confines of the fenced daycare yard. C & H were there, of course so they were happy to play with them. They managed to eat something from the potluck buffet and just enjoyed being outside. The weather managed to lighten up a bit, with a slight drizzle instead of the downpour we had had all day. The teachers gave a presentation for all the kids who are "graduating" to kindergarten. I managed to catch most of their comments about Schmoo on the video. I packed the kids up around 6:30pm and headed back home for baths and bedtime. Papa was here with our supper ready to go. Bean was excited to help Papa pick one of the tomatoes from our planters on the front deck. We're going to have a movie / dinner date on the couch tonight.
