Yesterday was a very eventful day. We had a slower start at home in the morning and after a couple of quick stops in town headed over the bridge to a 3 year old birthday party. It was for a little boy that we had met through gymnastics. Schmoo and his big sister, J were in a class together so the boys were always running around together in the viewing area. They also play with each other at the gym daycare where both his mom and I go on a regular basis. It was a great day for an outdoor party. There were 7 little kids in the 3 and 5 age ranges and they all got along great. They had the best time in the blow up kiddie pool with slide. Bean was all over the ice cream cake, even managing to finish off half of Schmoo's that she left behind.
We came home after the party for Bean's quiet time. Papa was home early so I could take Schmoo for her next dentist appointment. Filling number two. She did amazing again. Didn't cry at all this time and I was amazed that she didn't even flinch when he was putting the freezing into her gums. What a trooper. We headed off to the dollar store, as promised, after her appointment so she could pick out a few things and even bought a new notebook and stickers for Bean. I'll happily spend $10 on dollar store items to have my child put up such a brave front for fillings. Bean was just waking up when we got home and after a smoothie and bagel dinner, the kids went out in the backyard to play with Papa for awhile before I brought them in for a bath.
Auntie E, Baby R and Grandma Lady arrived just before 7pm. Grandma Lady was in charge of Baby R so Auntie E and I could go out for our girl's night out. It was a great evening spent with a group of Auntie E's friends, all of whom I've met before. We sat down at the hotel on the lake on their lakefront patio and enjoyed the warm summer evening. Half the group headed back up the valley at midnight and a group of five of us walked up to the pub for some more conversation. Our original hopes were to get in a couple of dances at the nightclub but we arrived to a dark entrance and closed doors, so we had to shut down the pub instead. We returned home at 1:30am and found Grandma Lady still up on the computer.
6:00am certainly came quickly after such a late night. I dropped the kids off at daycare and headed to the gym for another sauna workout. Hopefully their air conditioning will be fixed next week. A few errands in town before returning home to see off Papa who is gone for the weekend on a camping trip with his friend U. Sounds like they've taken U's boat up the lake to enjoy the fishing and scenery. I spent the afternoon with Grandma Lady until we got the call to pick up Bean. Now I'm going to order myself a pizza and settle in with a movie.
