But first.....a complaint of one missed day of blogging has been noted from Team Indi. Who knew that the adventures of Schmoo and Bean were so much in demand. I tried to have an early night last night - after a busy day of entertaining my Uncle J and Auntie P who were in town for a quick visit from Saskatoon. We had also been down at the park during the day for a bike ride around the tram shed loop. Bean did great....not stops and starts this time, just straight riding. He did take a bit of a tumble at the beginning though and I heard his helmet go clunk, so thank goodness for the helmet. So I went to bed, without blogging, only to be awoken by the annoying canine who insisted on pacing around the house, clicking her toenails and refusing to rest. She slept fine once I was on the couch and then both kids were up at 3am for various pee breaks.
Our guests were gone by the time we were up at 7am this morning. Early risers, they were off to their next stop. Schmoo started complaining of a poorly tummy after breakfast and kind of deteriorated as the day went on. I took them to the gym for my workout. It was 82F in the class room and everyone was dying from heat exhaustion by the end of the class. We made a stop at the market for some apricots and raspberries and a visit to the flower shop to get Grandma Lady some flowers for her birthday and then we headed towards the valley to meet Grandma Lady, Auntie E, Cousin I and baby R for lunch. We had a great panini lunch out on the patio in the shade and shared a slice of raspberry cheesecake to sing happy birthday.
Schmoo drifted off to sleep in the way back. She was already starting to feel a bit feverish. Luckily I was already scheduled at the doctor's for both of them for their annual check ups. Schmoo measured in at 43 inches and Bean was right behind her at 40 inches. The doctor confirmed that she was running a bit of a fever, but nothing to be too concerned about. We came home (where the rest of the family were already settled for quiet time) and all went to bed ourselves. Schmoo went straight to sleep and Bean wasn't far behind her. I even managed to have a snooze with Schmoo to catch up after last night's musical sleeping arrangements.
We all got up around 4:30pm and started to get organized for our big family supper. It was great to have everyone (Grandma Lady, Auntie E and co) here to eat. They are on the one week countdown so I'm not sure whether we'll have any more opportunities to all eat together before they go. We all headed out to Dairy Queen after dinner for a birthday treat that we took down to the park for 1/2 hour. Schmoo perked up at the suggestion of ice cream, together with the ibuprofen that I had given her before dinner.
Bean headed straight to the twisty slide that he had figured out how to climb up yesterday and spent most of his time doing that. It's always so amazing to watch their determination and pride when they figure out how to do something new. We headed home for a quick bedtime and then Grandma Lady and I headed out to the movies to see Mamma Mia. It was just as fun as the last time.
