Here we are in the last week of summer. I should be out enjoying the park, the beach, the spray park. But I'm not. Instead I'm in full on organization mode. I have a list sat on my work desk of things I need to do before school starts next week and work the week after. Most things are not child-friendly...things that are more difficult to accomplish with two little kids in tow, so the list is not particularly inviting. But I'm getting through it. Luckily, the kids are happy to be home and are having a great time running around playing their own made up games in the house while I putter around getting myself organized.
Here's today's highlights:
- kids were up early. I had to have a loud conversation with Bean about staying in his room until the beep, which invariably woke up Schmoo. Then I had to have a conversation with her about going back to her room until the beep. At least she will come and give me a snuggle in bed. Bean just runs around getting into mischief.
- we headed to the gym for my morning work out. Not many mornings left, so I'm making the most of them.
- home for a shower and some organizing. The kids played outside a lot and tried to eat lunch in their make shift tent on the deck. They soon raced inside when a wasp wrecked their party. It wasn't long before they found themselves without any lunch and in their rooms when they started acting up and being silly at the table.
- I tucked them in for quiet time, hoping for naps but not getting any so I could go out to an appointment while Papa worked at home. I returned to find them still up and sneaking out of their rooms.
- We headed out around 4pm to say good-bye to a set of friends who are headed to Saskatchewan this weekend. It seems like so many people are leaving town...sniff. Then we headed out to our friend C & S to have pizza supper. Their dad is away for work and Papa was playing tennis tonight, so we had a great mama chat while the kids ran around their big backyard. We hardly saw them the whole 3 hours that we were there. What a great age they're at now!
- Home for a late bedtime. Airlie seems better tonight after her visit to the vet yesterday. Hopefully we'll hear something later this week from the blood work that we had done. She and Steed have been sequestered to the front hall for the time being. The house is quiet and I'm ready for an early night.
