It feels like the temperature just keeps rising at the moment. There's going to be a break soon though, just in time for me to pack up the car and head east to Cowtown on Wednesday. We had a pretty busy summertime morning. Off to the gym in the morning, where they had FINALLY fixed the air conditioning. I don't think I could have handled another 80F workout. We returned home for a shower and some phone calls before heading out to the beach to meet up with C & H and their mom, D. It was scorching hot, but I managed to get the umbrella to stick in the sand today so we atleast had a bit of a reprieve in the shade. The kids had a great time splashing around in the water. I am definitely thankful for the life jackets on both of the kids. It doesn't mean that I can stop watching, but it does mean that I don't have to watch every single second. Our beach stop included an ice cream sandwich from the kiosk too, which made for happy children. I packed them up at 2pm and headed home for quiet time. At that time of day, there was nothing better to do than have a big nap. I am becoming more and more conscious of enjoying the opportunities I can catch for a quick afternoon nap. I know that once I go back to work, I'll need my afternoons to catch up on home management and such.
We've had a quiet rest of the day. Papa was home around 3pm and the kids had a nice dinner before putting on some "shows" in the backyard and then in Schmoo's room. Schmoo sure is full of song and dance these days. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since I've been singing silly songs to her since she and Bean were born. We were happy to hear of the arrival of a second daughter for our friends A & C in Cowtown (the couple that worked with Papa at 4th Street Rose). I will be sure to sneak in a snuggle with their new baby on our visit later this week. I am also excited to see that Auntie E is up and running on her blog now too....check it out at www.thepotterswife.blogspot.com
A big date night planned for tomorrow night. I can't believe that 8 years ago we were getting ready to walk down the aisle. What a great ride it's been so far!
