Road trip to Cowtown

Well, we're here. No one will probably read this as it is generally assumed when I'm away that I don't blog. But here I am. We had a great drive to Cowtown today. Instead of hitting the road early like I usually do on these big road trips, I decided to sneak in a trip to the gym for my class before heading out. I loaded up the car with the intention of leaving right from the gym. The kids got to play for a couple of hours and I got my sweat fix. It worked well. We picked up a muffin and hit the road at 11:30am. I had lots of snacks for the car, so with a couple of pee breaks along the way we didn't have any long stopovers and made it to Cowtown in a record 7 hours. The kids were amazing. I bought them both a new sticker /activity book and it kept them occupied for most of the trip. That together with some stories on CD and the Alvin soundtrack.

We rolled into Cowtown about 6:30pm our time and picked up some McDonalds for dinner before heading over to Nana W's house. This will be our campout location for the next four nights. Both kids were ecstatic to see Cousin R again and she was great to entertain them a bit after their dinner, helping to wear off some of the extra energy from being in the car all day. They're both tucked into their respective sleeping locations and I'm going to try and hit the hay early. We have a busy shopping day ahead of us tomorrow. Grandma Lady is coming to town to hang out with Bean while Schmoo and I do our "school / work" shopping. Should be fun!
