whether I really know my children. There are days, like today, when I feel like I can't get things organized in the right order to keep my children happy. And when that happens then they melt down into monster tantrums at bedtime, which make the good parts of the day seem like a distant memory.
Both kids slept in today which was nice. Schmoo seemed in better spirits and settled right in for her shows when she got up. This morning was another sauna workout session at the gym. Their air conditioning still isn't working so a full hour's workout is pretty hard. They had lots of individual fans going and we managed to push through. The kids stayed at home with Grandma Lady who had slept over after our movie date last night. I returned home and she headed straight out to Auntie E's. After a shower, I packed up the kids with some picnic lunch and we headed to the park for a leisurely couple of hours. The kids ate their lunches, played at the park and then we took a ride on the tram. We headed back to the car when Bean started to get a blister on his foot from wearing his shoes on the wrong feet. Our next stop was the dollar store to pick out some gifts for a little boy whose 3rd birthday we are going to tomorrow. The kids had a great time picking out their own things to give him. Then we hit the grocery store for a few things and came home exhausted (and hungry...in my case). I tucked the kids in their rooms for some quiet time and Bean promptly fell asleep. Schmoo didn't and was up at 4:30pm when her alarm went off.
I made chicken wraps for dinner and then tried to play with the kids outside, but Schmoo started to meltdown so we came in for the witching hour. Managed to get both kids in the bath, despite their protests and put Schmoo to bed wailing for one reason or another. Papa returned home just in time for bedtime after a full day out on the road. We enjoyed a nice leftovers dinner out on the front deck and will likely have an early night.
