The Birthday Week Kicks Off

The Activities

Apparently there's a solar ecplise due to happen this week. One of my online newsletters told me about it and mentioned not to make any decisions or react to anything in the days leading up and following the eclipse. I'm going to blame the eclipse on my bad mood today, because I was feeling miserable most of the day.

As usual, our Monday was busy. Up early, off to preschool, Bean and I to the gym, back to preschool, quick lunch (today at the bakery where we thought Papa might join us), off to gymnastics and home for just after 2pm. Well, today there was a definite need for everyone to have a nap. Bean went down quite easily and Schmoo went to her room for quiet time. I crawled into my bed and of course, 5 minutes later Schmoo came and asked if she could get up. I gently told her that Mama was cranky today and she could choose to either crawl into bed with me for a snooze, or go back to her room and play quietly. She chose to sleep. What a treat. Unfortunately, I couldn't. I was woken up 1/2 hour later by the dog, I think and then again another 1/2 hour later by the arrival of Auntie E, Uncle R and the gang. So much for quiet time. They were here for a quick visit on their way to the swimming pool. They timed it perfectly for Grandma Lady's call from Mexico - an early birthday wish. I also got my birthday card in the mail today from Nana and Grandad.

Papa returned from town with my van all fixed up with a new front tire. Apparently my flat tire had been caused by a nail that I had driven over, so a new tire was in order. I finished off with the kids eating their dinner and then went into town for my 1.5 hour birthday massage with my friend D. It was a dream. She is a Registered Massage Therapist and I never would have thought that you would notice the difference from the massage therapists at the spa. We finished up around 8pm and went to meet our other friend C for dinner. It was a great girl's night out and start to my birthday week. I've returned home to Papa sleeping on Schmoo's bed and Schmoo still wide awake, courtesy of her nap.

Thoughts on the Day
I hate it when I get into such a cranky mood. It's the interrupted sleep that does it to me, I know. Thankfully today Schmoo and Bean let me have some Mama quiet time in the afternoon. I'm really looking forward to my birthday "week". I really do love my birthday. Tomorrow will be fun celebrating with the kids and then I've got date night later in the week.
