Soccer Saturday

The Activities

Another weekend. Where does the time go? The kids slept in a bit today, if you can call 7:30am sleeping in. Bean was actually up in the night. I don't know if he fell out of bed, but he called out and I found him sat on the floor. When I tried to put him back to bed, he got upset because he wanted to go for a pee. What a great sign. He went for a pee and then I snuggled him down (after an argument about having some milk). Thankfully, he went back to sleep.

I crawled out of bed in time to get to the gym. About half way through class I realized that I had probably extended myself too much this week. I just didn't have the same energy to give in class. I finished the class and still feel good for going, but I think I need to scale back a little bit. I'm trying to fit in extra time, knowing that next week I won't be able to get in as much exercise while I'm away.

I came home, cleaned myself up and vacuumed before my friend A and her daughter G came over to play with me and Bean. Papa and Schmoo headed out to soccer just as they were arriving. We had a great playdate. Bean was full of good energy and happy to share with G. We all had lunch together and several joint attempts to use the potty. They headed home before Schmoo and Papa got back so I put Bean down for quiet time. It was a hard sell, but eventually he settled down to sleep.

Schmoo had a successful soccer session. Papa says she almost scored twice and enjoyed playing in goal as well. She came home determined to convince me to take her swimming later. She did manage to have some quiet time. Papa was lucky enough to get out for a long overdue massage to help fix his tense neck. He came back floating and feeling much better. I managed to talk to Uncle C who had come out of the mountains for his week off.

We had a quiet wrap up to our day. The kids played really well after dinner and managed to make a complete disaster zone of Bean's room before bedtime. Not much on tap tonight - dinner and hockey, I expect.

Schmoo's Favourite and Not Favourite Part of the Day
Favourite - going to soccer
Not Favourite - when two boys were being goofy at soccer

Thoughts on the Day

At last, a relatively peaceful day with the kids. Other than Schmoo's insistence about going swimming tonight, she did good listening today. Bean was happy to play with his friend G today and show off all his toys. It was nice to have a playdate with my friend A too. She is pregnant, due in May so we had lots to talk about. We've seen a lot of each other lately on our own, but haven't had the kids together for a while. I was glad that Papa finally got his massage. His neck has been uncomfortable for a while now after he fell at soccer, so it was good that our friend D could sneak him in for a massage. It was great to see the sunshine today too. It's amazing how long the winter feels with all these grey sky days.
