Sorta Sick Day

photo - Schmoo and Baby R yesterday

The Activities

Today was a sorta sick day. Schmoo work up and proceeded to tell me over and over that she didn't feel good. She didn't have much of a fever, but enough for me to decide to keep her home from preschool. Instead she came with Bean and I to his gymnastics class where she sat nicely on the sidelines, watching Bean and practicing her letter writing. She's so focussed on practicing her letters these days. Always asking how to spell different people's names so she can write the letters down. We went grocery shopping after gymnastics and stopped for a hot chocolate with sprinkles for a treat.

The whining continued when we got home and both kids felt a bit warm, so I gave them both some medicine and we all went to bed. Schmoo climbed into bed with me and Bean slept in his own bed. It was what we all needed, I think. The rest of the afternoon was quiet. The kids played - making houses with the big building blocks that they haven't played with in ages and Bean's train set, of course. Papa came home around dinner time, feeling miserable. I think he feels the worst of everyone. I got the kids organized with a movie and then headed out to the gym. I was eager to go to a class after a whole week without any real exercise. And then the teacher didn't show up! I went for a run on the treadmill instead and headed home for bedtime.

Bean still isn't feeling great, I don't think. He acted up at bedtime, lashing out when we tried to brush his teeth. But he settled down to sleep quickly. Schmoo, of course, is still rummaging around her room at 9:30pm since she had a big nap today. She seems to be feeling better though. Papa is snuggled up on the couch watching hockey.

Schmoo's Favourite and Not Favourite Parts of the Day

Favourite - watching Bean do gymnastics
Not Favourite - none

Thoughts on the Day

The nap this afternoon has helped put me back on track. It's amazing how out of sync I felt coming back from the Big Smoke. Three hours time difference has an impact, I guess. It was nice to snuggle up with Schmoo this afternoon. She's such a good cuddler now. Saying that, I had a great snuggle with Bean yesterday afternoon too. It's just too bad that his bed is so little. I'm hoping both kids are feeling better tomorrow so we can head out to the Thursday mother's group. I'm trying to ease myself slowly back into my exercise regime so that I don't tweak my neck again. At least it is feeling better.
