The Activities
Another rollercoaster day. Just when you think the sun has broken through, a dark storm cloud rolls back in. We went to our regular Thursday morning mother's group, with our cupcakes in hand. The moms were getting makeovers today at a local women's clothing store. I had my makeup done and was feeling all glamourous afterwards. I even won a $25 gift certificate in the door prizes, that I will keep until my weight loss is finished and I know what size I'm going to be. The kids were happy when I picked them back up and we headed home for lunch.
They were both happy to be home. They went off and did their own thing for 1/2 hour and didn't come asking for lunch for a bit. We had lunch and then I decided to give them their Valentine's treats - a red Valentine's drinking cup, some Winnie the Pooh stickers and some chocolates. This treat turned into torture, of course. Schmoo demanded that she keep her chocolates in her room and I insisted that we don't keep food in our room. She exploded into a mad fit and spent 1/2 hour stomping her foot at me and yelling "I'm mad". Eventually we made up and the kids went for their quiet time.
Bean has discovered a new chocolate source in his potty action and is trying hard to make as many visits as possible to the potty to secure more sweets. He managed to squeeze out two tiny poos today, which got him a big chocolate. I'm not going to get over anxious about his attempts to get more chocolate at this point. He did atleast have a nap today.
Papa was home earlier today and I dozed in the lazy boy in the sunshine while Schmoo rummaged around the front room. We ended up have a wonderful snuggle and chat and told eachother that we were sorry for making eachother upset earlier.
I went to the gym for 5pm and came home for bedtime. I gave the kids their Valentine's cards from Grandma Lady and somehow Schmoo got set off again. We had a horrible bedtime, complete with toys being taken away and no stories read. Over-tired, I hope. It sure breaks my heart to see her so incredibly mad and frustrated.
Papa and I had a lovely Valentine's dinner - pasta with mussels and are going to snuggle down to watch "Gone Baby Gone" on DVD. Not really a romantic movie, but a great date night! Here's hoping that Schmoo's miserable streak doesn't go for 4 days straight tomorrow.
Thoughts on the Day
What can I say? Schmoo's mood this week is exhausting. I wish I knew why she's so tempermental all of a sudden. She can swing from one extreme to the other in an instant. Maybe we're doing too much and need to spend more time at home. She goes to sleep exhausted though, when she hasn't had a nap, so maybe she's going through a growth spurt. Unfortunately, Bean catches on to her mood and brings his own crankiness to the mix as well. Maybe a nice quiet weekend will help.
