The Activities

Another sunny day! Today was our quiet day. After last Tuesday's mess with meltdowns and such I chose to stay home this morning. Somehow we still managed to have a meltdown. Poor Schmoo is set off so easily these days. We did finally get ourselves organized and out the door for a quick visit to the park. I took lots of great pictures of the kids. Too bad I can't share them. Later in the day I was looking at the new camera's settings and managed to delete ALL of the pictures on the camera. Good thing most of them are on our computer already, just not the ones from today.

After the park we headed to C & H's house for lunch. I was being ambitious with Bean's potty training and left him in his underpants. We managed to have two accidents while we were there. A lesson for me that we're not quite ready yet. We had a nice lunch and then played outside for a while on their neighbour's driveway, playing hockey. It took a little bit, but Bean eventually got the hang of it. The kids actually spent most of their time chasing a cat around the yard. Their mom, D and I had a nice visit and watched the various interactions that took place. The kids are at an interesting age and you can see that different dynamics are starting to happen between the older and younger kids, as well as the boys vs. the girls.

I packed the kids up and headed home for quiet time. Schmoo slept again! She must be growing. It took Bean a while, but eventually he settled down to sleep. I started getting organized for my trip tomorrow, including laundry. Papa was home in time for me to go to the 5pm gym class and I came home to happy kids. With them both having naps today, there was no rush for bedtime. They had a nice leisurely bath and ran around together for a while before I settled them into bed. Papa headed out for his Tuesday night soccer game.

Auntie E showed up for a quick visit while Uncle R was teaching at the college. She put cousin I down right away and baby R slept the whole time. We had a nice visit. She's headed north tomorrow to visit Uncle C and I'm headed east to the Big Smoke.

Thoughts on the Day

Schmoo is so cuddly when she wakes up from her afternoon naps. She came out of her room all groggy and then snuggled up on my lap on the lazy boy. We have such nice chats when she's like that. Bean on the other hand, is not happy when he wakes up. They both seem okay with me leaving again this week. We talked about Schmoo going to daycare an extra day on Thursday because Papa has to work and they were both excited about making me cupcakes for when I come home. Bean was so excited that he came running into the room to tell me, which put Schmoo into tears because, of course, it was supposed to be a surprise. Schmoo also asked today whether I would get them a surprise while I'm gone and gave me specific instructions NOT to bring back clothes, but something to play with. It will be hard to be away from them, especially since all the places that I'm visiting will have kids, but the break will be nice.
