Monday Madness and a start to a better week

The Activities

Another busy Monday. A beautiful sunny day. Happy children. Funny story.

Today was the usual Monday - preschool, gym, home for lunch, gymnastics, quiet time. I was feeling a bit funny today. Not at quite the same energy level. I'm not sure what it was, but my neck is really bothering me today. I had a nice doze in the sunshine in the lazy boy this afternoon while the kids were having quiet time. What a great feeling - to just lie with the sun on your face, like a cat. It's amazing how good the sun feels this time of the year, when most days seem to be grey.

Bean and I did some walking in the sun while Schmoo was in gymnastics. Just around the block to the pharmacy and to pick up a couple of things for dinner at the grocery store. Two minute visits to the grocery store always turn into 15 minutes when I'm with Bean as he always stops and picks things up. We bought some pretzels for him to eat when he was waiting for Schmoo at gymnastics too.

Funny story - Bean pulled his first "arm card" today. One of the kids' jobs is to hang up their coats, put their hats away and put their boots on the mat. So today when we got home, Bean just left all his stuff lying on the floor. I called up to him, asking him to come down and do his job. He came down as far as the landing and when I asked him to put his stuff away, he said "But I only have one arm". I didn't know whether to laugh or not. I promptly told him that it didn't matter and that he could still do his job. I think the comment came from a conversation we had with a mom and her kids at the pool yesterday, where we were talking about Bean having to learn how to do things with one hand instead of two. And I'm pretty sure that this won't be the last time that he tries to get out of something because of his little arm.

The kids played really well today. Nice to get the week off to a good start. They spent lots of time building forts and ships to play on, using the dining room chairs. It's so great to see their imagination at work. They even used their stuffies to be the crocodiles in the water. At lunchtime, they had their lunch in their house as a treat.

Papa had a busy day at work, but was home in time for stories and bedtime. Schmoo actually had a nap today, so her bedtime was a bit drawn out. Lots of coming out of her bedroom for one thing or another, but she's finally settled down. Bean had another successful potty day, except no poos yet.

Schmoo's Favourite and Not Favourite Part of the Day

Favourite - going to preschool and gymnastics
Not Favourite - getting a owie (a little scratch) on her finger

Thoughts on the Day

I'm glad the week is off to a good start. It's so nice when the kids play well together and that I don't have to manage what feels like an ongoing series of meltdowns. I did learn my lesson about flushing the toilet today with Bean. He went into a real fit when I flushed the toilet after one of his visits. Obviously it is very important to him - and not something I need to take away from him. Busy day tomorrow getting ready for my trip to the Big Smoke! I leave on Wednesday afternoon and have a busy morning, so need to have everything organized.
