The arrival of two grandmothers and an aunt

They're here, they're here. The countdown clock is going to be pretty bare soon, now that we're no longer counting down to the arrival of Nana and Auntie J. Grandma Lady arrived safely yesterday evening after her marathon drive from Cowtown. She made it in record time so that she could have a quick visit with the kids before they went to bed. The kids, of course were beside themselves in excitement, so despite a long day at daycare, they were up late and took awhile to settle. I had a busy day getting the house organized. I went to the gym in the morning and then dropped off the car for its service call and ran home to clean up. I spent most of my time in Schmoo's room - 1.5 hours, in fact - trying to sort through her things and tidy up her stuff. She's such a little pack rat. My efforts ended with one big bag of paper for recycling and one big bag of junk for the garbage.
The pizza from the night before started talking back to both Papa and I and by 3pm we were both driven to bed with cramping stomachs. The discomfort didn't get much better and after we got the kids settled into bed, I went to bed early, without any supper.

Nana and Auntie J had a much longer day. After a mess up thanks to their travel agent (that would be me), they missed their first flight and ended up getting to Vancouver in a long, roundabout way. They flew first to Calgary, where weather delayed them getting to Vancouver. But they got their eventually. Their travels today were not much easier. Weather in our area cancelled their original flight. The snow today was incredible. You couldn't even see across the lake today for all the cloud and snow. But it was a perfect example of how different the weather can be just 1/2 hour away. Papa headed out to pick them up on the second flight of the day and sure enough, the cloud was higher around the mountain and they were able to land. I think we were all relieved to finally have them in our car and on our way home. Papa and Auntie J wandered into town after their first cup of tea so Auntie J could get her first take on our booming metropolis. I went down just before bedtime to pick them up from the pub - surprise, surprise.
The kids had a home day today. They were up early, eager to see their Grandma Lady. They spent most of the day playing in different parts of the house. Both Grandma Lady and Nana came laden with gifts so they spent lots of time organizing and playing with those. I managed to sneak out in the morning on my own to pick up the groceries for the weekend and spent most of my afternoon in the kitchen cooking and baking. We've sorted out the sleeping arrangements, with Bean sleeping on a mattress in our room, so that Auntie J can sleep in an actual bed. Grandma Lady is snuggling in with Schmoo for her stay with us this weekend.

We had a lovely adults only dinner once the kids were in bed and Nana headed off to bed promptly after we ate. I can only imagine how tired she must be. Papa settled in to watch a soccer game he had taped today while Auntie J, Grandma Lady and I chatted in the kitchen. Hopefully everyone will be more on track tomorrow and that the sun comes out and melts all the snow!

On an exciting note - Bean had his first poo on the potty yesterday at daycare. He was so proud to tell me when I arrived to pick him up. We've had some more half succesfull attempts today, which is a step in the right direction. I'm hoping that the arrival of Nana and Grandma Lady, as well as the ongoing discussion about being able to swim on the cruise will help propel him to potty training completion. I'm not holding my breath, but one can certainly hope!
