photo - Schmoo's first of many birthday parties

As if Mondays weren't busy enough around here, we managed to jam some extra activities into our day today. Bean had a restless night last night, sleeping in Mama and Papa's room. He was up a couple of times to crawl into bed with me for a snuggle, which invariably meant I had to get up and escort him back to his mattress at the end of our bed. The 1am wake up also included a bum change for a poo. Who has a poo in the middle of the night at this age?! So needless to say, Mama was tired this morning and not eager to get up when the house started moving at 6:30am.

Bean stayed home with the Grandmas and I took Schmoo to preschool and dropped Auntie J off in town to pick up Papa's car (from their pub visit last night) so she could head off on her adventure for the day. I went to the gym and then raced home, with a quick stop at the bank, to shower and pick up Nana, Bean and Airlie to go back to get Schmoo. They are having pet month at school, so we brought Airlie inside the school for Schmoo to show everyone. Airlie wasn't so keen and Schmoo was pretty soft spoken about talking about her dog.

We returned home for a quick and impromptu birthday party for Schmoo. Grandma Lady is headed off tomorrow and won't see Schmoo until after her birthday so we needed to celebrate. Auntie E and the kids came in to join us for lunch and the party. So after a busy lunch and quick singing of Happy Birthday and cake eating, we were off again into town for Schmoo's gymnastics class. Nana came along to watch with Bean and I. As so often happens, Bean decided to wait until we were at gymnastics to have his potty accident of the day. I have definitely stopped keeping track of how many underpants I've had to throw out. We left Nana in town so she could wander around and returned home for some quiet time. At least today Bean settled nicely into a big nap and Schmoo had her new birthday toys to play with during her quiet time.
Grandma Lady came home from her haircut, so I was able to scoot into town to pick up Nana at our 4:30pm rendez vous point. We came home for the kids' dinner (pasta and peas) and Babar. Bean and I went out in the backyard with Airlie for 20 minutes to empty the compost and run around with the soccer ball. Schmoo was happy to stay inside with Nana to show off her new toys. We all played a game of Memory Match with Bean's Cars Cards

before I got them ready for bed. Auntie J returned from her adventure just as I was getting the kids ready for bed. We had a pasta supper and chat after the kids were settled and are headed for an early night. Grandma Lady is up at Auntie E's house again but is coming back to pack up in the morning to head out to Golden.
