Sunday Sunshine

Well, after yesterday's crazy snow storm, we're back to warmer weather and sunshine. The snow hasn't quite all gone yet, but by tomorrow it will be. Auntie J was keen to see the snow yesterday, so good thing they got in to see it before it melted away. Everyone was up relatively early today. Not sure what time Grandma Lady and Schmoo started moving around, but based on how exhausted she was tonight at dinner time, I reckon it was pretty early. Nana was last to make her way upstairs, but even she was up by 9am.

My morning started with a bake-off. The cinnamon buns that I had prepared yesterday were ready to be baked and while they were in the oven, I prepared some savory buns (with feta, spinach and olives) to finish off the dough. I rushed around to get myself organized and out of the house by 9:30am for the day. I spent most of my day at a blessingway from my friend A who is due to have her second baby next month. This is like a pre-baby shower that focuses more on a group of women gathering to give support and strength to the mother-to-be. It was a beautiful gathering of 8 women, full of lots of laughter and emotion.

The rest of the gang had a busy morning. Papa and Auntie J took Airlie for a nice long walk down to the local waterfall, through town and down to the beach where they met up with the rest of the group. Grandma Lady and Nana took the kids to the bookstore where they each got to pick a couple of new books and then they headed to the park.

I returned to a relatively quiet house. Schmoo was just getting up from her quiet time and Bean was refusing to have his. I ended up having a battle with him over the next hour to try and get him to either be pleasant or go to sleep. After a significant amount of screaming at me, he finally settled down in my bed with me for a long over due nap. It's so hard to know that they are absolutely exhausted and yet they refuse to nap. He woke up much happier. Papa made us all a lovely pork roast dinner and then he and Auntie J promptly went into town to watch the 5pm start of the next hockey game. Looking online as I write this, it looks like the Flames won, so Papa will be returning happy.

Nana and I had a quiet bedtime with the kids. They both had a nice big bath and then after reading Schmoo's new stories, I tucked her into bed. Poor thing could hardly keep her eyes open. Bean stayed up a bit longer and went to bed without much fuss. Our potty efforts today weren't quite as successful as yesterday, but we keep persevering. Grandma Lady has headed up to Auntie E's for the evening to help out with her kids while they go out for dinner. She'll be back later tonight to snuggle down with Schmoo again as Auntie E has a full house at the moment with guests.
Schmoo's Favourite Parts of the Day
Favourite - seeing Nana and getting new books
Not Favourite - none
