Cleaning Day

It's always a good thing when people come to visit. It gives me the extra push to give the house a big clean. The days seem to scream by most of the time, and cleaning often gets delayed in order to keep up with the kids. The vacuuming usually gets the most notice (and done most often) because the dog sheds ALL THE TIME, so it drives me crazy to see the dog hair in the sunlight. Anyways, today was cleaning day. I got the suite all cleaned up and ready yesterday for K's visit this weekend and today I made my way through the rest of the house (with a bit of help from Papa).

We had a busy morning. We headed into town for the Thursday mother's group. The kids were excited to see C & H, who also go to this group with their mom, D. I had a good discussion group and they had fun playing. Schmoo did up a couple of pictures to take to C & H. She can write both of their names from memory now, so was proud to make each of them their own picture. After the mother's group, we headed to the grocery store. Doesn't it seem like I go to the grocery store EVERY DAY? Every time I go I think about an email I got a while back that compared taking toddlers / preschoolers shopping to herding goats. At least I can still get Bean to sit in the cart so one of them is contained.



Schmoo was insistent about getting her haircut today. And rightfully so, as she could hardly see out through her bangs. After Safeway, we went to the mall to see if the hair salon could squeeze her in. We were in luck and she came out with soft flowing locks, and a much shorter fringe. We decided to stay at the mall for lunch at A&W, since it was close to 1pm by this point. My stomach quickly reminded me that I don't eat that kind of food now...talk about indigestion.



Back home for quiet time and cleaning time for Mama. I headed out around 4:30pm to hit the gym since I won't be able to go this weekend. I came home to find the kids running around out front and Papa cleaning his car. It was glorious outside so they were running around without coats! He's got his car all cleaned up for his big roadtrip to Cowtown tomorrow. They are leaving at the crack of dawn to get there early. It's a quick trip, just there tomorrow and back on Saturday. We came in the house for bath and bedtime. No nap for Schmoo today, so she settled quickly. Bean took a couple of reminders, but settled eventually. We ate dinner and then watched a movie on the couch.


A busy day ahead tomorrow. I'm running a delivery errand for Papa's friend tomorrow so they can get away early. I've added it to my list of other things to do on my day "off" since the kids are in daycare all day. I'm very excited about K's arrival. Girls night tomorrow....if she can stay awake!
