Spring is in the air

Another couple of busy days. Monday held its usual craziness. We were up way too early....5:55am is not a happy time for Mama. I took Schmoo to preschool and Bean stayed home with Nana while I went to the gym. I came back to pick them both up and shower before heading back out to pick up Schmoo. The weather was beautiful, so I decided to head down to the soccer fields for a picnic lunch to enjoy the sunshine before Schmoo's gymnastics class. We dropped Nana off downtown to wander the streets and headed down to the park. Papa came and found us, and brought C & H and their mom to the park who he had found down at the other end by the playground. The kids had a great time running around together. Schmoo especially ran the length of the soccer field about four times. They also made themselves a hideout in the bushes where the four kids rummaged through C's backpack of goodies.

We made our way to gymnastics class for 1pm and found Nana along the way. We all headed home for quiet time. Bean had a nice big nap and Schmoo almost fell asleep. When she got up, we sat out on the front deck and made up the invitations for her birthday party this weekend. I wrote out all the details and she wrote everyone's names and decorated the envelopes. They had dinner and then Schmoo and I went out in the car to deliver some of the invitations to friends that she wouldn't be seeing until Friday. She loved taking the cards in to her friends and telling them about the party. All of her friends were happy to see her too. We picked up a couple of things at the store on the way home and came back for baths and bedtime.

Papa had made a beautiful vegetarian strudel that Nana, Papa and I had for dinner. The kids took a bit of time to settle, but were sleeping by the time I headed out to meet some friends for a birthday celebration for one of them. We had dessert....white chocolate creme brulee, yum and a good chat. I returned to a quiet house.

Today was more of a rainy day. We were up at a more reasonable time this morning. Both kids were quiet (and asleep, I think) until 7am. Papa picked up Auntie E from the local hospital and dropped her off to Uncle R on his way to work. She seems to have pinched a nerve but was scared that it was something more serious when she was having discomfort in her chest. I packed up both kids and headed to the gym so Nana could have a quiet morning. We just snuck into the daycare - it's getting busier and busier down there. I had a great workout and then we headed home. After lunch we took Nana shopping to get a few things, including a birthday present for a little girl's party that the kids are going to on Saturday. Nana spoiled the kids with the purchase of Alvin and the Chipmunks on DVD. So you know what we've been doing since quiet time this afternoon. We also made a stop at Safeway to order the birthday cake for this weekend's party.

Both kids had some quiet time this afternoon. Bean even asked to go for a pee. I totally stopped asking him for the moment after the weekend when he kept soiling his underpants. It's up to him now, I guess. The rest of the afternoon has been about watching the DVD. Nana treated us to a Thai takeaway tonight - yum! Papa watched his taped soccer match...or atleast until it got to the final score and Nana and I had a girls night watching "27 Dresses". I'm such a sucker for romantic comedies!
