Beanie's New Blanket

Pictures for Papa...

Our kids have always been blanket kids. They both have their own "special" blanket and up until this spring they each had two of this blanket. One for carrying around and a spare for swapping when the other one needed cleaning. Unfortunately Schmoo's spare blanket came to a sad end when it went missing on our cruise trip to Alaska. Thankfully I had both blankets along for the trip, but I was devasted when I learned that we had left one behind somewhere on the boat during our departure. Schmoo wasn't too distressed because of course, she still had one blanket. But I fear the day that the sole remaining stars blankie meets a similar fate. Luckily Schmoo is five now, so I have told her that the blanket needs to stay at home.

Outside of the special blankets, both kids also have a plethora of fleece blankets on their beds. Schmoo has four and Bean has two. These blankets are piled upon them each night, as well as used to make forts and various other imaginary games. Last week, Bean decided that he needed a NEW blanket. He was cold. Side note - this doesn't actually seem possible as Bean will sweat profusely in the middle of winter without any blankets on. But Papa rummaged around in the linen closet and pulled out a handmade quilt and he's claimed it as his own. Grandma Lady made this quilt for me when I turned 30 and was pregnant with Schmoo and up until now it hasn't been properly used. So I'm pleased to report it now snuggles up with Bean each night. Can you actually see him in this picture?
Today was another busy day. None of us wanted to get out of bed this morning. Bean managed to lose all his blankets at 5am and woke up yelling. He fell back asleep though and I had to wake him up for once at 6:30am to get ready. I had another full day at work. The piles keep getting bigger but hopefully some of the problems are getting solved. The kids were both happy when I picked them up. Although Schmoo asked AGAIN whether she could stay with the big kids. We made it home and it only took them 10 minutes to both meltdown. Off to their rooms they went, with accompanying hysteria on Bean's part, while I whipped up a gourmet Shrek pasta and garlic toast dinner. I was pushing for a proper bedtime and had them bathed, TV'd and tucked in by 6:15pm. Hopefully a good night's sleep will ease their tired bodies.

I opted to NOT bring work home and instead have ordered myself a pizza and plan to do some TV catch up tonight, with ambitions of a 9pm bedtime for myself. Schmoo was sure to calculate the number of sleeps until Papa came home before she went to bed. We hope the visiting is going well and send a BIG HUGE GIGANTIC birthday hug to Nana when she reads this in the morning!

Thanks for the photos. I can tell Fra is sweating in the picture of him in his bed.
