Today started slow. Bean was up at his usual 6am, coming into Papa's side of the bed for an extended snuggle. Schmoo managed to sleep in until 7am and enjoyed a leisurely start on the couch with her beloved shows. Lying in bed I tossed around the idea of packing up the kids to get to the gym in time for two daycare spots. After a very busy few weeks, I decided we should probably just lay low this morning and enjoy our own house. With the washing machine out of commission for 5 days, I was WAY behind in my laundry and there were lots of other household things (like organizing the pantry for Papa) that needed to be tackled. So home we stayed. Our leisurely pace quickly gained momentum though when I realized we needed to fit in a trip to the grocery store before we ate lunch, dropped Bean off at his friend F's house for a play and make it to Schmoo's school for our 12:30pm parent/teacher interview.
The interview went great. Her teacher, Mrs. B said she was a joy to have in class. Conscientious, attentive, a good listener. Lots of things you want to hear as a parent. She showed us some of her work - her printing, her number and letter recognition, her paper cutting skills. Then we got to read a story that Schmoo had dictated to her Grade 3 big buddies. It was pretty funny at the end of the story when Schmoo referenced her mother who liked to sleep. Glad to know I've made an impression!
After the interview, I dropped Schmoo off at her friend C's house, who goes to a different school now for an afternoon playdate. C's mom took them swimming and had the girls together until 5pm! Schmoo came home elated, but exhausted. I returned to F's house for a quick visit and picked up Bean to bring him home for some quiet time. After our successful nap earlier in the week, I crawled into bed with him again and he fell into a deep sleep. I dozed for about 20 minutes and then got up to carry on with my own things. Had a great chat with Auntie V, wishing her happy mother's day #3 and happy birthday to Baby Z!
At about 3pm, our friends C & S showed up with their mom C for another playdate. Bean crawled out of bed reluctantly, but was soon enjoying the company. We had a great visit and they headed out just before 5pm, in time for Schmoo and Bean's dinner. No shows or bath tonight, just an early bedtime. Good to keep things on track. Papa is busy making pasta for dinner and I'm going to head over to a friend's house tonight to watch Sex in the City with a bunch of other ladies. A busy day and evening ahead tomorrow!

Hi Kiersten
I smiled at the reference to Sophie's story in which she depicted you as liking your bed. When Katherine was younger they were asked at school to draw a picture of their mummy as they saw them and she drew Brenda at the ironing board!! Everyone else drew their Mum's in glamouropus clothes. Like you say it is good to make some sort of impression.
