Happy Birthday Papa!

Papa's return from England was timed nicely for him to enjoy a leisurely day at home today. Despite a restless sleep, mostly thanks to Bean's frequent visits in the night (I'm not sure what this new waking pattern is all about), he got up with us at 6:30am and started his day. We started the day with a great family snuggle in bed and Schmoo was so cute when she crawled in beside him and wished him Happy Birthday without any prompting. He started off his day with his present from Mama - tickets to see Mason Jennings in Vancouver next month....just Mama and Papa. I've been busy coordinating things so that he and I can over for a sleepover without the kids.

Papa was in charge of dropping off and picking up the kids today. I had a long busy day at work, but snuck away for an hour to enjoy a walk in the sunshine and a bakery lunch with Papa. After work I went to the gym for a quick run and then returned home to find Papa busy in the kitchen making roast chicken dinner for the family and two VERY tired children on the couch. Both of them were exhausted. Papa had made them a special treat when they got home from school - hot cocoa with whip cream in Uncle R's mugs. They were both overjoyed. Dinner was a bit later than usual, but it was nice to eat all together. We gave the kids a bath before dinner so that after we ate they were ready to go straight to bed. Poor Beanie was so tired, he fell straight asleep after we tucked him in.
